Chewbacca Smacks a Porg in Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer: Go Behind the Scenes of the Movie
Bb-8 was the scene-stealer in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but the droid felt like a distant memory the moment a porg popped up in the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Lucasfilm aired a new 15-second TV spot during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC Thursday. Though it didn't reveal any major plot points, given its compact time constraints, it did show Chewbacca smacking a porg while piloting the Millennium Falcon—and fans loved it. Directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is in theaters Dec. 15. The ensemble cast includes Kenny Baker (R2-D2), John Boyega (Finn), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Anthony Daniels (C-3Po), Benicio Del Toro...

Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Andy Serkis discusses Supreme Leader Snoke and his motivations

Having only made the briefest of appearances via hologram in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, December’s hotly-anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to feature an expanded role for the saga’s latest villain, Supreme Leader Snoke.

While director Rian Johnson has warned us not to expect any major reveals and that his past will remain a mystery in Episode VIII, actor Andy Serkis has been chatting to EW about his character, giving us a little insight into his backstory.

“The thing about Snoke is that he is extremely strong with the Force, the dark side of the Force. He’s terribly powerful, of course. But he is also a very vulnerable and wounded character,” said Serkis. “He has suffered and he has suffered injury. The way that his malevolence comes out is in reaction to that. His hatred of the Resistance is fueled by what’s happened to him personally.

Rian Johnson is at the “very beginning” stages of planning his new Star Wars trilogy

Earlier this month, it was announced that Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson would be directing a brand-new trilogy set in the Star Wars universe. These films would be canon, but not following the Skywalker saga, effectively allowing the director to let his imagination go wild. So how much thought has Rian Johnson put into the project so far? Well, according to him, he’s still at the starting line (via Youtube):

“We’re gonna have to see. I’m just in the very beginning of starting to come up with what the new trilogy is going to be. But I can tell you this, what makes me so excited about it, is the idea of doing a new story on the big canvas of three movies in this world. There’s just so much potential and I can’t wait to jump into it.”

No Lando in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, according to director Rian Johnson

With Star Wars: The Force Awakens feeling like a reunion, of sorts, with the series’ iconic characters, it’s natural to hope for even more cameos in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and one such character is Lando Calrissian.

Given the character’s upcoming appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story, played by Donald Glover, it feels like a great time to catch up with Billy Dee Williams smooth talking smuggler. Well, for those hoping to see Lando in the upcoming film, prepared to be disappointed.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is mincing no words on the potential of Lando making an appearance:

“No, and I don’t want fans to get their hopes up. He’s not in the film, and it was never really something that came up. I mean, I loved that character. It would have been fun to see him, but

What Do New Star Wars Characters Bring to The Last Jedi?
With the countdown towards Star Wars: The Last Jedi continuing, two new images have surfaced, featuring a new look at Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) and Admiral Amilyn Holdo (Laura Dern). While both actresses couldn't reveal much about their characters, Kelly Marie Tran did reveal that John Boyega, who returns as Finn, is "very funny" while teasing that there was some improvising that they could do during production. Laura Dern, however, had a more cryptic statement about all of the new characters. Here's what she had to say below.

"The new people will either be leading or misleading the heroes."

This new report comes just after a new Star Wars: The Last Jedi poster was released, and with just one month until the highly-anticipated sequel hits theaters, it remains unclear how many more details about these new characters, and every other character in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, will be released.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Oscar Isaac stresses that Poe Dameron is not the next Han Solo

Star Wars: The Force Awakens caught a lot of flack for feeling like a retread of A New Hope. Poe Dameron, for example, is a handsome, wisecracking, crack shot pilot in a leather jacket. Sound familiar? Well, Poe Dameron actor Oscar Isaac wants to make clear that he doesn’t think that his character is a second-coming of Han Solo. Chatting with Esquire, the actor describes Rian Johnson’s desire to have Poe Dameron’s character serve the main plot in Star Wars: The Last Jedi:

“Well, there could be [an opening for a Han-like character], but I think what [The Last Jedi director] Rian [Johnson] did was make it less about filling a slot and more about what the story needs. The fact is now that the Resistance has been whittled to just a handful of people, they’re running for their lives, and Leia is grooming me — him — to be a leader of the Resistance, as opposed to a dashing,

Last Jedi IMAX Poster Hints at Rey's Fall to the Dark Side
The IMAX poster for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has arrived. There's been no shortage of marketing for the follow-up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens lately, but this is a particularly great poster. It's tough to imagine die hard fans getting any more excited for this movie than they already are, and this poster isn't likely to win anyone over who isn't already going to see the latest Skywalker saga adventure, but it's a great poster nonetheless. Rian Johnson to create new Star Wars trilogy

Lucasfilm have announced that The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson will get to create his own galaxy far, far away with a brand new Star Wars trilogy, the first of which he will write and direct, with long term collaborator Ram Bergman fulfilling producer duties.

The official statement is as exciting as a yellow font opening scrawl:

Lucasfilm is excited to announce that Johnson will create a brand-new Star Wars trilogy, the first of which he is also set to write and direct, with longtime collaborator Ram Bergman onboard to produce.

As writer-director of The Last Jedi, Johnson conceived and realized a powerful film of which Lucasfilm and Disney are immensely proud.
