In Kirk Fogg We Trust: New Legends of the Hidden Temple Sneak Peek Brings Back the Khaki Shorts

21 November 2016 8:05 AM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Watch out for those temple guards! Nickelodeon is about to bring back Legends of the Hidden Temple in the best way possible, and E! News has your first look at Kirk Fogg back in action.  Ok, the best way to bring Legends of the Hidden Temple back would be to make it a game show that adults were allowed to participate in, but this movie is probably the next best way.  Fogg, who hosted the game show for all three seasons (and 120 episodes) returns to play himself, the long-time tour guide of the hidden temple. The movie follows three siblings who join Fogg and the great Olmec (Dee Bradley Baker, also returning) to get through a real-life obstacle course that will help them prove the legends of the »

Legends Of The Hidden Temple TV Movie Gets Premiere Date

7 October 2016 3:21 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It’s not just theatrical movies (like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek Beyond, or Jumanji) that are currently trading on nostalgia. Small screen projects are also following suit. Nickelodeon is planning perhaps the most significant of these, with a TV movie based on the popular 1990s game show, Legends Of The Hidden Temple – which now has a premiere date.

Originally created by David G. Stanley, Scott A. Stone and Stephen Brown in 1993, Legends Of The Hidden Temple ran for 120 episodes – each featuring six teams of two 11-14 year olds. The teams competed to find and collect artefacts in a temple filled with treasures, guarded by Mayan protectors. To succeed, the competitors would have to answer questions and undertake physical tasks. The show was hosted by Kirk Fogg, and featured narration from Dee Bradley Baker in the guise of a talking stone head named Olmec.

Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Two Review

7 September 2016 7:06 PM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

Star Wars Rebels is an almost bizarrely solid, animated series, and the second season took a show that was already good, and upped the game in almost every way.

The story started out with our band simply setting out to disrupt the Empire’s plans (with newcomer Ezra in tow) whenever they could, but with the show’s setting being at a point so “prequel” to the original Star Wars film, the connection to any unified opposition was decidedly loose. Such an opposition barely exists to be connected to anyway.

The show pulled in viewers by throwing in small side stories that might not truly relate to the overall conflict at all, but are instead like thought experiments about what the everyday people in the universe might be going through, and these are effectively built into character development opportunities for our leads.

Of course, there’s only so much grief you can cause The Empire, »

Emily S. Whitten: Nickelodeon and Nostalgia @ Sdcc 2016

30 July 2016 10:00 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

As you undoubtedly know, San Diego’s Comic-Con International happened this past weekend, and I was fortunate to be amongst the tens of thousands of attendees. There was, as always, a mega-ton to see and do, and it was hard to keep the Fomo (Fear Of Missing Out) from getting completely out of control over the 4.5 days of the con. To stay sane, though, at some point you just have to accept that you’re going to miss a bunch, and focus on what you do have the opportunity to see.

This year, one of my main interests was what Nickelodeon was showcasing. Of course, Nickelodeon is always on my radar, and particularly the current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, which I adore. But even beyond the coolness that is the Tmnt, this year, Nickelodeon was focusing on its past – in the best way possible. Through its late-night programming block of “The Splat, »

The Legends of the Hidden Temple Movie Aims to Please Both '90s Fans and Today's Kids

When '90s kids found out that Nickelodeon game show Legends of the Hidden Temple was being brought back as a movie in Fall 2016, there was a mixed reaction of excitement and nerves. Would it be as great as the original series? Would they ignore fan-favorite show features like the Shrine of the Silver Monkey and Olmec the talking head? But in a Comic-Con panel featuring original hosts Kirk Fogg and Dee Bradley Baker, new film star Isabela Moner, and producer Michael Sammaciccia, fans old and new were assuaged. "It's a very cinematic game show," said Sammaciccia about why '90s fans adored the original series and why it will translate well into a modern movie. Moner described the movie as "scary" and "different" from traditional Nickelodeon fare but promised panel attendees that it would retain the same features that they loved so much.
