‘Dusty Peacock’ And Crackle’s Love For The Hapless Hopeful

13 July 2009 3:12 PM, PDT | Tubefilter.tv | See recent Tubefilter News news »

Crackle loves the hapless hopeful comedy. Today they rolled out another would-be hero trapped in a cloud of delusion with the launch of daredevil comedy Dusty Peacock. The 8-episode web series stars Gary Valentine, brother of King of Queens star Kevin James, as the eponymous and talentless daredevil trying to take his act to the big time. As is often the case with celebrity-backed web series, the production is kept in the family. It's touted on site as produced by Kevin James, and the writer (Rock Reuben) and cast all share some connection with James. I chatted with Valentine who plays Peacock, to get his take on the colorful character. "Dusty Peacock is a man who consdiers himself an icon," said Valentine. "He doesn't have much talent but he has a lot of drive—this Criss Angel guy who thinks he's a rock star, but doesn't have the talent." Rounding »

Who would have thought one day could actually bring two bits of casting news regarding Cher? Cher, the woman that won an Oscar for Best Actress for Moonstruck back in 1988. Cher, the woman whose face I saw plastered all over Las Vegas when I was down there this past March. Cher, the woman that has now landed a role opposite Christina Aguilera in the upcoming musical Burlesque while at the same time she lays her voice down for Kevin James's comedy The Zookeeper. Blu-Ray Review: ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop’ With Kevin James a Massive Comedy Hit

15 May 2009 8:26 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Being a big fan of Kevin James and his underrated sitcom “The King of Queens” and marveling at the massive box office for Steve Carr’s “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” I approached the Blu-Ray release of this hit title with cautious optimism. I’m still very happy for the talented James, but he deserves better than this slapstick-y and inconsistent comedy.

Blu-Ray Rating: 2.5/5.0 James plays the title character, a mild-mannered, sweet guy who dreams of becoming a State Trooper but his hypoglycemia has kept him a mall cop. Paul is a single father, close to his mother, bullied by the more popular employees at the mall, and the rare person who is overly kind to strangers. He’s incredibly easy to root for.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop will be released on Blu-Ray on May 19th, 2009.

Is Sony Planning A Paul Blart Sequel? -- Not if God loves us enough

29 January 2009 | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The La Times has printed a nice long article that hits the finer points of the "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" phenomenon. The story's thesis, which I think they stole from my last two box-office reports, is that "Paul Blart" was vastly underestimated. That's right Kevin James! It must be nice to know that all of America was expecting you to fall on your well-padded ass! Along with revealing shocking details about the crafting of "Blart" – what's that you say? It only took James and screenwriter Nick Bakay one month to finish the script? Get right out of town! - The Times also managed to get Sony exec Paul Belgrad to go on record about a possible sequel to "Mall Cop". Belgrad, the man who developed "Mall Cop" on the cheap with Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions, says ""Happy Madison historically has been very reluctant to do ... »
