The Television Academy has tapped Bob Bain to exec produce this year’s Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Variety has learned.

This marks the first year that Bain will exec produce the ceremony. He replaces Spike Jones Jr., who celebrated his 20th anniversary as producer of the ceremony last year. A spokesperson for the Academy had no statement as to why the switch was made.

Bob Bain Productions has also overseen projects like the Teen Choice Awards and the Critics Choice Awards.

“Bob is one of the industry’s leading producers of “next generation” event television. We are thrilled to have him on board.” said Television Academy chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum.

The Creative Arts Emmys will take place September 12 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Fxx will broadcast a two-hour version of the awards show at 8 p.m. on September 19.
