Veep, Season 3, Episode 05: “Fishing”

Teleplay by Georgia Pritchett and Will Smith, Story by Armando Iannucci, Georgia Pritchett, and Will Smith

Directed by Becky Martin

Airs Sundays at 10:30pm (Et) on HBO

Since the beginning of the season, the selection of a campaign manager has been a major decision looming over Selina Meyer. With both Dan and Amy openly vying for the position, and Ben advising Meyer to go with a third party, it was clear the current vice-president was delaying the inevitable. This week’s episode sees Meyer finally make a decision, in a compelling outing that adds new complications to Jonah’s story, as well as Mike and Gary’s.

Selina’s increased disdain for her staff in this week’s episode is an intriguing turn for the character. While it’s clear that Meyer has never had much love for the people she works with, »

HBO has released its first look at "Veep" Season 3 in this new trailer, which features Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) starting her run for president -- "Operation Lady Potus is go!"

Meyer meets with a political adviser (Diedrich Bader), who basically tells her she needs an all-new team of people. Of course, "Veep" wouldn't be "Veep" without Meyer's band of misfits screwing things up left and right -- what will Meyer do?

‘Veep’ Characters Slammed in New Season 3 Trailer

16 March 2014 2:50 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

It looks like HBO’s political comedy “Veep” might need a new name.

As Selina Meyer, the titular vice president played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, gears up to run for president, she meets up with a new campaign consultant (Diedrich Bader) who tells her she may have to narrow her ranks a little.

“And then what, I fire everyone?” asks Meyer. “Now what am I supposed to do?”

The new trailer takes a jab at just about everyone in the show from Armando Iannucci, and teases at her future presidential campaign. When season two ended, the president had just announced he would not run for a second term.

Season three of “Veep” premieres on HBO April 6.

“Veep” is back, but will Selina’s staff make the cut for future seasons? HBO just debuted the trailer for Season 3, and in it we see “The Drew Carey Show” alum Diedrich Bader dissecting the many faults of Selina Meyer’s staff. Last season ended with the sitting, but never seen, president deciding not to run for a second term. In the trailer for this new season we see Bader’s character plotting over dinner with Meyer over how to make her “the most powerful person on Earth.” Who will last into season 4? Will we be watching “Pres.” in 2015? Because we know Meyer’s thoughts on a second run as the Veep: “I'd rather be shot in the face than serve as vice president again. Seriously, in the fucking face." Tune in to HBO Sunday, April 6 at 10:30 pm to discover the fate of our nation.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus makes us laugh in new trailer for HBO's 'Veep'

10 March 2014 9:25 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Selina Meyer wants to be the President of the United States.  That is something we've known since the first episode of HBO's "Veep" aired, but the new trailer for season three of the comedy series has the Julia Louis-Dreyfus character make it, perhaps, more clear than she ever has before, and that means a lot of fun for viewers. Through the first two seasons of "Veep," Julia Louis-Dreyfus has won two Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Meyer and if the third season as a whole delivers on the potential offered up by this new trailer, she may be on her way to a third.  What sort of lines does Meyer deliver here?  For our money, the best moment in the trailer is her stating with her usual tact, "I'd rather be shot in the face than serve as Vice President again." While we don't know exactly what storylines we'll see play out this season, »
