Reiko auditioned from the role of Nina Myers on "24" (2001) losing out only to Sarah Clarke. She became (and still is) good friends with Sarah Clarke. She later auditioned for the role of Kate Warner, losing out only to Sarah Wynter. The producers however were impressed with her performance and cast her as CTU Agent Michelle Dessler.
Moved to Seattle, Washington, when she was 15.
Attended the University of Washington where she studied neural science.

Made a guest appearance in the fifth season premiere of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2000). This was going to be a recurring role, but was limited to one episode after she received a contract for season four of "24" (2001). Ironincally, she was replaced on "CSI" by Aisha Tyler, who played Marianne Taylor in season four of "24.".
Appeared again with "24" co-star Xander Berkeley in Magma: Volcanic Disaster (2006) (TV). In 24, Xander Berkeley played her boss, in Magma, he plays her husband.
Lived in Springfield, Illinois from 1987-1988 where she participated in her first play, "West Side Story.".
Is extremely good at pool, having learned how to play in high school.

Of all the characters Reiko has played so far, her favorite has been Michelle Dessler who she describes as "a strong woman with a big heart" and "she's based on my mom".
Was one of the three finalists for the role of Olivia Benson on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1999). The role eventually went to Mariska Hargitay.
Her mother was born in South Africa (Boer heritage) and raised in Great Britain.
Her father is a psychologist.
Has a half brother and half sister on each side of her family.
I didn't know a soul when I got to New York and I felt really displaced. The first week I was euphoric, and then I realized how isolating the city can be.
