Trivia:

Graduated from Yale University. After service in the U.S. Navy, he lived for several years in Paris, studying at the Sorbonne. Though his output was somewhat sparse, he is perhaps best remembered as editor and co-director of the seminal documentary about the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island, Jazz on a Summer's Day (1959). Also directed the excellent caper comedy 11 Harrowhouse (1974). See more »
