Darnell Autry was a star running back for the Northwestern Wildcats college football team, helping to lead them to the 1996 Rose Bowl. His college major was drama. He was drafted by the NFL's Chicago Bears in 1997 and had a brief NFL career with Chicago and Philadelphia before retiring during the following season to concentrate on an acting career.

Appeared on cover of 'Sports Illustrated' in the fall of 1995 after his Northwestern Wildcats football team defeated Penn State en route to its first Rose Bowl berth in 49 years.
