An accomplished comedian performing in the Yiddish theater, Alexander Asro was a member of the Vilna Troupe, a collection of actors who performed throughout eastern Europe; after World War I, he moved first to London, and then emigrated to Brooklyn, New York, USA and became an American citizen in 1929.
