Born in Antioch in 1956, His father was an civil engineer. Mr.
Aslanyurek studied for a BFA and MFA between 1979-1986 at the U.S.S.R.
State Cinema Institute's Department of Film Direction. Since 1993, he
has been continuing his academic work at Marmara University Fine Arts
Faculty's Department of Film-TV. Mr. Aslanyurek speaks Russian and
Arabic, and his writings have appeared in numerous journals and
newspapers. He has also written and published a book on the theory of
scriptwriting and translated a book on film editing into Turkish. He
has two sons already in the cinema world, the oldest one is a
cinematographer educated in VGIK; the second one is an actor.
