Having been turned down by every television studio in America, Jim Henson’s Muppet Show was eventually bankrolled in the UK by legendary cigar-chomping mogul Lord Lew Grade. From its debut in 1976, The Muppet Show was a huge, global success; an instant hit with both children and adults. Three years later, with the Muppets at the zenith of their popularity, Kermit, Fozzie, Miss Piggy and company made their big screen debut with The Muppet Movie (‘More Entertaining Than Humanly Possible’) which was one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Originally released in 1979 through Atlantic Records, The Muppet Movie soundtrack was composed by Kenny Ascher and Paul Williams and contains Kermit the Frog's unforgettable song 'Rainbow Connection.' Walt Disney Records released the album on CD for the first time in 2013 and they are now following it up with a vinyl release this year. The limited edition album will debut in select stores on April 19th for this year's Record Store Day, a nationwide event that began in 2007 that sees dozens of titles garnering either first time or re-release in vinyl format.
