By Eddy Friedfeld

Television legend Betty White was the target of this year’s Friars Club Roast, held in New York’s Sheraton Hotel.

From an eclectic dais that ranged from Matt Lauer, Liza Minelli, and Dick Cavett, to Dominic “Uncle Junior” Chianese, to The Office’s Oscar Nunez, to former New York star John Starks, to boxing great Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, to Best Picture The Artist’s Uggie the Dog, the event was up to its usual biting and merciless humor, poking fun at the guest of honor’s age and sexual proclivity.

Barbara Walters served as Roastmaster, marking the first time in Friars history that women were both host and subject. “Yesterday, I was talking to the President of the United States,” Walters said, referring to Barack Obama’s appearance on The View, »

Toys: Gentle Giant's Deadpool Corps Boxed Set

16 May 2012 5:45 AM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

If you are a Deadpool fan then you cannot miss this set of Deadpool Corps mini-busts that will not only look good on your shelves, but have you laughing your butt off as well! The edition size of this set is still to be determined, but you can probably figure on it being a low run because of the limited fanbase of these characters. You can pre-order these at Gentle Giant's website. Pulled from his home reality of Earth-616 by The Contemplator, Wade Wilson was introduced to four versions of himself from alternate universes, including a dog, a child, a zombified head and a woman. Together, these five incarnations of Deadpool formed the Deadpool Corps, and they adventured together aboard their space ship, The Bea Arthur to take on a threat to the Marvel Multiverse only known as The Awareness. Seriously, we can’t make this stuff up. Cold cast »

TV Review: ‘American Masters Johnny Carson: King of Late Night’

14 May 2012 9:42 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – There is arguably no icon on a higher pedestal in the history of television than Johnny Carson, the man who didn’t just host “The Tonight Show” for three decades but became a cultural fixture. We let Johnny into our homes and trusted him in ways that I believe just can’t happen again in a more cynical TV age. He was a nightly visitor for millions and the new PBS documentary about him, “American Masters Johnny Carson: King of Late Night,” is one of the best TV history documentaries yet produced.

TV Rating: 5.0/5.0

Why is “King of Late Night” so captivating? Not only did the filmmakers get unprecedented access to Johnny’s personal and professional archives, they knew how to use those clips to tell his story. With Carson and Ed McMahon gone, they can’t be interviewed, but Carson dropped many biographical nuggets over the course of the show. »

America's Next Top Model 18.10 "Nicholas Tse" Review

America's Next Top Model 18.10 "Nicholas Tse" Review

Ooh, so that happened.

Top Model, dare I say it, surprised me once again in cycle 18 with how the elimination played out. After nearly a decade on the air (think about that for a second), you'd think that the show had pulled out every trick in the book - every outrageous photo shoot, every casting dynamic, every watercooler shocker designed to send the internet atwitter (on Twitter). But look at you, Tyra Banks, finding a way to freshen things up; following several well-reasoned, understandable boots in a row, Top Model managed to top itself by having a double elimination. They may have had weeks where they've eliminated two models, most notably last cycle and the first episode of cycle 10, but those were either known about in advance or seemed egregiously artificial to the point that it lacked any shock value. Here, though, Alisha quitting came from absolutely nowhere, »

Morning Meme: "American Idol"'s No Homo Moment, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Remaking "Little Shop of Horrors," and Justin Bieber Helps Ryan Seacrest Go Viral

First of all, Happy Star Wars day! May the Fourth be with you!

Benedict Cumberbatch is "startlingly aware" of the slashfic of him and Martin Freeman. “It’s cool… I suppose my bodily proportions are quite flattering. I’m ripped, doing something I wouldn’t normally do with my body, or having done to it, involving Watson. So that’s as far as I’ll hit about that one, but it’s all there on the web if you want to find it.”

Over at NewNowNext, Sexpert Conner Habib is back with a new question. It's way too far for us to run here, but as he notes (with a great sight gag), there are differences in how gay guys and girls and straight guys view certain aspects of sex.

Evidently the upcoming wedding for Northstar is dramatically boosting presales of Astonishing X-Men.

Erin Gibson: Pretty Funny (Minus the Funny)

20 April 2012 8:50 AM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

I don't understand a lot of things. I don't understand why my neighbor is pursuing a career as a 1990s electronic music artist. I don't understand why the ice cream shop near my house considers two scoops of ice cream one scoop. And I don't understand how women, educated journalists, can be so unfair when writing about other women.

Alessandra Stanley of the New York Times was saddled with the task of writing a review of NBC's newest show, Best Friends Forever. The article "Old Pals Falling Into a New Dynamic" starts off strong by setting up the premise of the sitcom, the tone of the show, joke quality and a serious review of the acting. Just Kidding! She kicks off her article by ripping right into the looks of star and writer Lennon Parham:

"Ms. Parham, who is funny and appealing, has the pleasant, ordinary looks that are usually reserved for sidekicks. »

Of Betty White’S Roles, Rose Was The Sweetest

5 April 2012 9:41 AM, PDT | Fox All Access | See recent Fox All Access news »

Betty White has been working in the entertainment business for 73 years. Over the course of her incredible career, she has had many memorable acting roles on iconic television shows including The Mary Tyler Moore Show (playing Sue Ann Nivens) and the comedy The Golden Girls (playing the loveable, naive Rose Nylund). We spoke to White, who told us that out of all the roles she has played in her career, Rose Nylund was the closest to her heart. (Click on the audio player to hear Betty White) Betty White 1

Fans of The Golden Girls remember Rose telling stories of where she grew up in St. Olaf, a fictional town in Minnesota, which got so many laughs. White reminisced about filming those scenes, and how her costars Rue McClanahan, Estelle Getty, and Bea Arthur would wait to see if she would screw up her lines because she had to pronounce words »

James Denton talks Nicollette Sheridan-Marc Cherry trial on 'The View'

12 March 2012 12:40 PM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

"Desperate Housewives" actor James Denton appeared on "The View" Monday (March 12) to talk about his rather sudden, untimely end on the show, which you can read about here. But he also  was able to reveal the story he was supposed to tell during the Nicollette Sheridan-Marc Cherry trial.

"It was really uncomfortable because when you say 'on behalf of Marc Cherry and the producers,' I don't see it that way at all. They asked me to come in and tell a story that they thought was a nice illustration for the way things worked on our set," says Denton.

"What happened was I ended up not being able to get the story out because the other attorney kept objecting, objecting, objecting. I wasn't much help to anybody, whcih is Ok with me. I don't think helped or hurt."

But naturally, "The View" women are curious (as are »

AfterElton's Top 50 Favorite TV Characters

27 February 2012 5:53 AM, PST | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

The results are in! We asked readers to name their favorite TV characters of all time and thousands responded. This year, for the first time, we weren't just asking about favorite gay TV characters. Folks could vote for characters of either gender - and all persuasions. Of course, this being AfterElton we expected gay characters to figure prominently on this list - and they do - but it is interesting to see what female and straight TV roles also resonated with the AfterElton readership.

Before we get to the actual rankings, here are a few statistics.

First, the top fifty came from a broad range of TV shows. Thirty programs were represented, and the two that made the best showing (Glee and Modern Family) placed only four characters each in the rankings.

Second, female characters nabbed 15 of the top 50 spots, or 30%.

Third, obviously a poll like this favors characters from »

The 20 Most Adorable Betty White Photos To Celebrate Her Birthday

17 January 2012 11:22 AM, PST | TheFabLife - Movies | See recent TheFabLife - Movies news »

We could have easily pulled Betty White’s 90 most adorable photos in honor of her 90th birthday today. Everyone’s favorite Golden Girl (sorry, Bea Arthur!) has the cuteness factor of Selena Gomez pushing a baby carriage full of puppies in sailor hats down the aisle of a store that only sells Anne Geddes books. She’s so cute that prolonged exposure to her face eventually results in being unable to do anything but stare at the computer screen and make a noise that sounds something like “GooOooOoooOOOoooo.” So, in order to keep our jobs, we capped it at just 20. We hope you understand.

But it’s true, the ageless and timeless actress turns the big 9-0 today, and she’s just as with sassy as ever. And now we’d like to pay tribute to our honorary grandma in the gallery below. Rock on, Betty!

Happy 90Th Birthday, Betty White

16 January 2012 5:31 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

TV veteran Betty White has a big reason to celebrate on Tuesday - America's favourite Golden Girl turns 90.

Known for her comedic chops and charming wit on U.S. hit shows like Hot in Cleveland, The Golden Girls and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, White boasts a successful career, which now spans seven decades.

And she doesn't appear to be slowing down with age - on Monday night bosses at U.S. network NBC paid tribute to the legend's career by airing a star-studded TV special, which featured Hugh Jackman and Carol Burnett, among others, paying tribute to the birthday girl - and she is just about to premiere a new senior citizen hidden camera show, titled Off Their Rockers.

Because the funnywoman has already celebrated her birthday with her best celebrity pals, White tells WENN she plans on spending the day working on crossword puzzles and hanging out with her longtime companion - a Golden Retriever named Pontiac.

And in honour of the spunky star's landmark birthday, we've compiled 10 fascinating facts about the beloved actress to mark the occasion. Happy Birthday, Betty White!

- The actress was born in Illinois during America's Great Depression but her parents moved the family to Los Angeles when she was just two years old.

- She attended the Horace Mann School in Beverly Hills, California - the same middle school as Angelina Jolie, Nicolas Cage and Lenny Kravitz.

- Unlike a number of celebrities, the actress never changed her name before entering the entertainment industry. She was born Betty - not Elizabeth - because her parents didn't want her to be bogged down by nick names.

- White has been married three times - briefly to Army Air Corps pilot Dick Barker in 1945, Hollywood agent Lane Bryant from 1947 to 1949 and TV host Allen Ludden, from 1963 until his death in 1981.

- She has won a total of seven Emmy Awards throughout the course of her career - her first was a 1975 Best Actress honour for her work on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and her most recent was in 2010, for Outstanding Guest Actress on A Comedy Series for her hosting turn on U.S. sketch show Saturday Night Live.

- White has been a life-long animal advocate. She received the American Veterinary Medical Association's Humane Award in 1987 for her charitable work, and the Los Angeles Zoo recognised the comedian with a bronze plaque near the Gorilla Exhibit in 2006, when she was officially named the tourist attraction's Ambassador to the Animals.

- She turned down the chance to play Helen Hunt's mum in the 1997 film As Good As It Gets because she objected to a scene in which Jack Nicholson's character pushes a dog down a trash chute.

- She has already cemented her place in television and movie history - White was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1995 and she was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next to her late husband Ludden's in 1998.

- White is the last surviving member of the cast of hit TV show The Golden Girls, which premiered in America in 1985. Estelle Getty died in 2008, Bea Arthur passed away in 2009, and Rue McClanahan followed in 2010. Industry insiders feared White might succumb last year after a mysterious annual pattern of co-star deaths was discovered.

- She is also a highly-successful author - White has written a total of six books. Her last one, If you Ask Me (And Of Course You Won't), is currently a New York Times Bestseller. »
