Four months removed from its Sundance premiere, Michael Mohan’s “Save The Date” has finally landed a North American distribution deal with IFC Films. This is the second high-profile release the distributor has picked up in as many weeks, recently having brokered a deal to release Walter Salles’ adaptation of the landmark Jack Kerouac novel, “On The Road” which is set to premiere next week at the Cannes Film Festival.
Mohan co-wrote the script with Egan Reich and acclaimed graphic-novelist, Jeffrey Brown, and it’s an endearing romantic comedy (read our review here, and an interview with Mohan here) that stars Lizzy Caplan (“Party Down”) as a young woman adrift in the aftermath of a failed relationship and in the throes of a rebound during the runup to her sister’s wedding. “Save The Date” also stars Alison Brie (“Community,” “Mad Men”), Martin Starr (“Party Down”), Mark Webber, and Geoffrey Arend. »

Christina Hendricks, who plays the formidable Joan Harris on AMC's "Mad Men," celebrates her 37th birthday on Thursday (May 3) and in her honor we put together this list of five things we love about Hendricks that have nothing to do with "Mad Men" or her inclusion on People's 2012 Most Beautiful Women list.
1. Her character in "Drive" -- Blanche is the anti-Joan Harris: A trashy mess who steals for a living, she totally rocked out the role and held her own on screen with Ryan Gosling.
2. She's married to "Body of Proof" actor Geoffrey Arend, who we totally heart.
3. She co-stars with "Glee's" Chris Colfer in the upcoming "Struck by Lightning" (which was written by Colfer, too):
4. "Firefly!" She played a con artist named Saffron (and also Yolanda and Bridget). She gets "married" to Captain Mal (Nathan Fillion) without his knowledge and drugs him with poison lipstick. Nice!
5. No »

We went shopping in Soho with Alison Brie earlier this year and watched her try on a host of unfortunate dresses while we discussed her talented feet (she can make an egg-salad sandwich with ‘em), and her roles on two of our favorite TV shows, Community and Mad Men. Here’s what didn’t make it into the original profile, including her thoughts on frumpy Trudy, the inspiration for type-a Annie, and Brie’s art-school sexual experimentation. What was your experience shooting Save the Date?It was so fun. When we shot that movie we were all so close. It’s basically a five-hander with Martin Starr and Lizzy Caplan and Geoffrey Arend and Mark Webber. It sounds lame to say when people say "passion project" and you want to punch them in the face. But it was like we all just loved making it and we were so close when we did it. »

At a recent screening at the Dallas International Film Festival, writer-director Michael Mohan had to narrate the opening of his second feature film when it began with no sound: "Right now you're hearing the sounds of a book store. There might be a car driving by, and that guy is about to drink coffee." Fortunately the projectionist was able to restore sound by the time the title sequence started, but the botched and awkward opening set the mood for the equally awkward and uncomfortable situations that befall Lizzy Caplan in the romantic-comedy, "Save the Date."
The light and endearing film (you can read our review from Sundance right here) follows a struggling illustrator and bookstore manager (Caplan) who struggles with emotional vulnerability and commitment in the run up to her sister's wedding (played by "Community" and "Mad Men" star Alison Brie). And although the cast is rounded out by a »

It was the only one I tried on! "I'd been to get a dress for the Golden Globes and, while I was there, they said, 'Why don't you try this?' It was perfect." Actress Christina Hendricks was unfazed by her parents' divorce - and even encouraged them to split.
The Mad Men star's mum Jackie and her father Robert experienced a rough patch when she was a teenager, parting ways just after she'd finished her education - and Hendricks confesses she's glad they separated.
She tells Cosmopolitan magazine, "(They split) when I graduated from high school. It didn't affect me - they hadn't been getting along for some time and I was just like, 'Just get a divorce. Save yourselves'."
But Hendricks, who wed Geoffrey Arend in 2009, insists she still has faith in successful partnerships.
She adds, "I believe very much in marriage and in working hard for it. My husband's parents are still together and I really like that. But I wouldn't have wanted my parents to stay together if they weren't happy." »

The Mad Men season premiere must be getting closer (March 25), because today we have two Mm-related headlines that we’ve decided to mash-up into the story we’d really like to read. Story 1: Christina Hendricks and her slamming bod are on the cover of the March Cosmo U.K. In the interview, she talks very sweetly about how she met her husband, Geoffrey Arend, and what she thinks of being a sex symbol. “It’s incredibly flattering and surprising, and I didn’t think for a second when I started Mad Men that people would talk about me as being sexy or a pin up. ‘My husband has a good laugh about it, of course.’ ”
Story 2: Fashionista is reporting that after the success of their first Mad Men-inspired line, they’ll be releasing a second one, with 40 pieces of men’s and women’s clothing and accessories »

With the countless number of romantic comedies focused on how difficult it is for a woman to find a good man, it’s incredibly refreshing to see one where the tables are turned. In “Save The Date,” Lizzy Caplan stars as Sarah, a struggling illustrator who keeps herself afloat by managing a local bookstore. After dating her boyfriend Kevin (Geoffrey Arend) for two years, she has hesitantly agreed to move in with him to take their relationship to the next level. Kevin is the singer in a two-man indie band called Wolf Bird -- because all indie bands have Wolf in their name -- whose drummer Andrew (Martin Starr) is engaged to Sarah’s sister Beth (Alison Brie). Their first night as cohabitants looks like romantic bliss as the couple tenderly slow dances together while Sarah warns that she will be a horrible roommate, messy and forgetful. Kevin is smitten »
