Jeffrey Archer was born on April 15, 1940 in London, England as Jeffrey Howard Archer. He is known for his work on Bridget Jones's Diary (2001), Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less (1990) and The Shackles of Sherlock (2007). He has been married to Mary Archer since July 11, 1966. They have two children.

Despite his criminal conviction at the Old Bailey, he retained his title of Lord Archer.
(July 19, 2001) Began a four year jail sentence for perjury and perverting the course of justice, relating back to his successful 1987 libel action against the Daily Star tabloid newspaper. He was released in 2003 after serving half of his sentence.
The former MP and Conservative Party chairman was made a life peer by John Major's government in 1992.
