  • ScreenDaily
Cph:dox has broken its own audience record for the 12th consecutive year.

This year’s tally was 83,900 visitors, up 20% from 70,100 last year. Of those, 3,586 were online views.

There were 1,356 delegate industry visitors.

Tine Fischer, festival director at Cph:dox, said: “Cph:dox has both audience- and industry-wise experienced an outstanding year. We are extremely happy, but hands down the most important thing that has happened this year without comparison, is that the festival has really taken the documentary into an active social and political space with its new project Megatrends. The project is not limited to journalistic criticism and analysis, but puts more focus on how we can get an active dialogue going on some of the most important global issues and challenges. The interaction, innovation and strengthening of an active democratic dialogue have been the objectives and we think it has had a flying start. The project is intended as a recurring initiative and we are looking forward

The Hunger Games Studio Under Fire For Using Non-Union Conductors On Score

The Hunger Games won.t be in theaters until March, but already, the anticipated adaptation has struck a sour note with the American Federation of Musicians. Awkward. .We currently have no motion picture contracts on file for the movie The

‘Hunger Games’ Orchestrator To Picket Lionsgate On Behalf Of His Musicians Guild

Exclusive: Talk about embarrassing a studio and a guild simultaneously. Tomorrow the American Federation of Musicians will picket Lionsgate because the studio is not using Afm musicians on The Hunger Games. Since that movie is now in post-production and Afm President Ray Hair has made Lionsgate the target of picketing, Thursday’s protest is happening at the Lionsgate TV show Mad Men‘s downtown La location shoot. Further complicating the situation is that one of tomorrow’s picketers is expected to be Hair’s chief lieutenant, Recording Musicians Association Of Los Angeles President Pete Anthony who sources tell me “scabbed” as an orchestrator on The Hunger Games. (Anthony is a conductor for James Newton-Howard who is the composer for The Hunger Games.) Here’s what Hair says is Afm’s problem with Lionsgate: “The American Federation of Musicians is moving to organize the independent film studio Lionsgate, and we are

The film, love it or hate it, represents everything that's right pertaining to the indie film scene and will forever stand as a sterling example that imagination and passion can trump a huge Hollywood budget any day of the week.

The Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival recognizes this fact as well, and as a result writer, producer and director Oren Peli will receive the Maverick Spirit Award at this year's event.

Festival Director Jo Moulton said, "A maverick by definition is one who stands above and apart from the crowd. Mr. Peli's meteoric rise from a relative unknown to a phenomenally successful writer, producer and director in a short amount of time is remarkable and inspirational for those who want to enter the business."

Peli will be
