Trivia

Was an Olympic fencer for Great Britain. Was called up to help out on Errol Flynn's The Master of Ballantrae (1953) after the competition. This was his entry into the movie business.

Is arguably the most legendary of sword-fight trainers/choreographers, having trained everyone from Errol Flynn to the cast of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

Doubled for David Prowse during Darth Vader's light saber duels in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983), despite having been six inches shorter than Prowse and required to wear lifts.

In WWII, Bob was on board the HMS Coventry when it sunk in the Mediteranean.

Grandfather of Tom Froud.

In The Master of Ballantrae (1953) he doubled for both actors in a sword fight and therefore "killed" himself.

While rehearsing a duel on location in Sicily, he accidentally cut Errol Flynn's thigh. Flynn immediately admitted it was his mistake but, for a time, Anderson was known as "the man who stabbed Errol Flynn".
