War Machine to "Kick Ass" in Iron Man 2

30 December 2009 12:25 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

The latest trailer for Iron Man 2 ended with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and War Machine (Don Cheadle) fighting back-to-back. Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada has seen a "rough cut of the movie" and told MTV that War Machine fans won't be disappointed.

I've actually seen a rough cut of the movie, and it's going to be good. Cheadle is one of the greatest living American actors, what do you expect? I think fans are going to love it — especially fans of War Machine — and he does kick some major ass.

Quesada admits to having a soft spot for the character James "Rhodey" Rhodes, a.k.a. War Machine, as well as another African-American character, the Black Panther.

I've always had a special connection to the Black Panther. One of the things that made Marvel stand out for me was that they had a character called the Black Panther. »

Where Have All The Manly Men Gone?

25 December 2009 1:38 PM, PST | ShadowAndAct | See recent ShadowAndAct news »

Today I had a talk with one of my closest long time friends and she brought to my attention this article written two weeks ago by Wesley Morris, the African American film critic for The Boston Globe about the lack of real genuine masculine men in movies nowadays, that are both American and under 40. Think about it. Practically all male movie stars that are both Amercian and under 40 are really just oversized boys who haven’t really grown any pubic hair yet. Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, Tobey McGuire, that girly looking dude from those Twlight movies. Maybe Matt Damon could fit that bill but that’s only because of those Bourne spy movie,s and even then he doesn’t really have that masculine “weight”. So my friend and I started to think about what well-known established Black actors could fill that bill, and I’m afraid we couldn’t. »

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Here's my problem with the picture: a furiously-filmed chase through the streets of Paris should be spectacular and thrilling. Instead, it's incoherent, routine, even disappointing. Director Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, Van Helsing) turns in another by-the-numbers action spectacle, this time starring Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Marlon Wayans, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. There are better ways to waste your time and money. Skip it. Also on Blu-ray.

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3

Tony Scott's remake is a higher-grade disappointment, coming achingly close to delivering an unqualified success. Derailed by John Travolta's unrepentant scenery-chewing, which goes far beyond the bounds of bad taste, and an unhealthy preoccupation with explaining everything, the film motors along reasonably well, fashioning a paranoid tale of post-9/11 terror and ticking time bomb suspense. Denzel Washington is eminently watchable, and »

Lost's Harold Perrineau: I'll Return "Only If There's Some Way It Makes Sense"

1 September 2009 9:30 PM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Here we go with all these rumors about who will, and won't, be returning to Lost for its sixth and final season.  Some names are confirmed (Dominic Monaghan, Ian Somerhalder, Emilie de Ravin, Elizabeth Mitchell, who else?) and some names are still floating (Maggie Grace, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje... I absolutely cannot keep track).

But one name's not been getting the rumor treatment yet--Harold Perrineau, also known as Vincent-searching Michael Dawson.  He's dead, or he's supposed to be.  Is he returning?  He doesn't have many answers... except for a big fat no. »

Mr. Eko wants to return?  Oh, sure, we'll see about that.

But with the final season of Lost getting a little closer, and a handful of those supposedly dead characters returning or rumored to be returning, the possibility of seeing just anyone on the last 17 episodes (if I'm still counting correctly) is pretty much up there.  Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje wants to do the same, too. »

'Lost': Mr. Eko wants to stage his comeback!

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, aka former tailie Mr. Eko, has a message for Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse: "Fans of Eko should have hope." Though Akinnuoye-Agbaje was the first castaway to vote himself off the island in season three, the British actor hopes to be one of the dead characters who makes a comeback in the drama's final season. "I loved playing that character," he told EW at the premiere of G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra, in which he plays Heavy Duty. "I loved working with that team and the reception I got from people was phenomenal. Even at Comic-Con this year I went to sign my action figure for G.I. Joe and people had tons of questions about Lost. It makes you feel good that you could be off a show for more than a year and still have people thinking about your character. »

TV Review: Final Season of ‘Monk’ Opens With Good Episode; ‘Psych’ Also Returns

7 August 2009 1:08 PM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – For seven years, USA Network’s “Monk” has consistently delivered quality entertainment. It’s never been a show that set out to break the rules or even do anything too interesting within them, but it has rarely faltered at all in its ability to entertain, something that can be said about very few series that have been on this long. Like a great old band going for one final tour, the final season of “Monk” promises to play all the greatest hits and go out on a high note.

TV Rating: 3.5/5.0 You’d have to have lived under a rock for the ’00s or just bought your first TV to be saying “what is this show called ‘Monk’”? The award-winning mystery series has been a beloved part of the basic cable landscape for the better part of the decade and the season premiere of the final arc of the »

Comic book lovers, it's time to break out your pencils and notepads. Repeat after me: Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. A difficult name to pronounce, yes, but an important one all the same -- this is the man whose leading the pack to play Black Panther, according to the actor himself.

MTV News first broke the story that Triple-a was talking with Marvel Studios about "Black Panther," and now the actor is speaking with other outlets about the character. Collider interviewed the "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" star about the potential superhero project, which Akinnuoye-Agbaje described as a literal dream role.

"It's always been a dream of mine to play a black superhero and, in particular, the Black Panther," said Akinnuoye-Agbaje in a video interview. "There is some truth to [the rumors] that we're now staying up, sitting down and taking talks with Marvel about developing that project for me."

The clearly enthused actor gushed about the role, »

From 'G.I. Joe' To Superhero: Five 'Rise Of Cobra' Actors With Comic Book Connections

6 August 2009 3:02 PM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

The existence of "G.I. Joe" comic books aside, many of the stars of this weekend's upcoming "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" have a good amount in common with the paneled page. From the mighty shield of Captain America to a Robin that never was, the following five actors have interesting ties — some stronger than others — to the comic book medium.

Ray Park: It's hard to forget Ray Park's menacing turn as Darth Maul, the dual-lightsaber twirling villain of "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace," but the man behind the mask of Snake Eyes has some curious ties to the comic book kingdom. Not only was he long-rumored for the role of Danny Rand in an "Iron Fist" adaptation, Park actually played Toad in the very first live-action "X-Men" film.

That's not even mentioning the actor's upcoming role in "Heroes." Park will play a fast-moving, »
