Matt Zoller Seitz at RogerEbert.com, gave it a decent 75 score, stating: " Annie is light on its feet, frothy, and always insistently, at times provocatively kind, determined to melt grumpy hearts like marshmallows." Claudia Puig over at USA Today, gave it a 50 grade. She said: "Quvenzhané Wallis is adorably plucky as the lead in Annie. She and Jamie Foxx as the newfangled Daddy Warbucks character have an appealing chemistry and »
Now playing in theaters is Will Gluck‘s modern reimagining of the Broadway classic Annie. The film stars Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) in the title role as a young, happy, street-tough foster kid living with the mean Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz) who is taken in by New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) in a thinly veiled campaign move. The film also stars Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and David Zayas. For more on Annie, watch the trailer, five clips and eleven minutes of behind-the-scenes footage, or read Matt's review. At the New York City press day I landed an exclusive video interview with Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne and Quvenzhane Wallis. They talked about collaborating with Will Gluck, how much fun they had making the film, embarrassing moments on set, and a lot more. Hit the jump to watch. Earlier this week, fans who signed into the Game of Thrones viral site ThreeEyedRaven.com received a second "vision" from this mystical creature, which offered a brief five-second glimpse at Season 5, following the initial sneak peek from November. Today we have yet two more videos featuring even more new footage. While the video from last week clearly showcased Cersei (Lena Headey), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), these latest sneak peeks are much more mysterious. We do see what is believed to be the door to The House of Black and White.
The Huffington Post confirms that one of the shots features Pedro Pascal's Oberyn Martell. But we are not seeing the return of Oberyn as the Red Viper. No, this footage is actually not from Season 5, but from the Season 4 episode "The Mountain and the Viper". The second teaser also features a brief glimpse at »

It's unclear if Mila Kunis is supposed to be parodying her Jupiter Jones role from Jupiter Ascending with a new trailer that hit earlier today, but it certainly seems that way. This sneak peek is for a young adult sci-fi drama entitled MoonQuake Lake, and it features Mila Kunis and her real-life husband Ashton Kutcher. But don't worry, it's fake.
The Lego Movie director Phil Lord tweeted out the MoonQuake Lake trailer earlier today, but it has not been confirmed that he directed it. A soapy take on Twilight that also features Rihanna, the trailer is actually featured in the movie Annie.
In a scene from the reboot, Annie, played by Quvenzhané Wallis, and the other orphans are invited to a movie premiere. And the actual title MoonQuake Lake is reference in a song on the Annie soundtrack performed by Sia & Beck.  You can watch the full trailer here:

Nigerian-uk actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is set to voice the protagonist of an ambitious Emirati feature-length animation inspired by a figure in Arabic folklore.
The as-yet-untitled picture is inspired by the folkloric figure of Bilal, a black African slave who overcame adversity to become a heroic figure in Arabic culture.
It is the first major production by Dubai-based animation studio Barajoun Entertainment and the most ambitious animated work to come out of the UAE to date.
“He’s a real hero who lived 1,000 years ago,” Barajoun’s founding managing partner Ayman Jamal told a news conference on the fringes of the Dubai International Film Festival.
“We like Marvel movies but feel there is a gap in showing real-life super-heroes and that was the point of starting this movie. Our hero is not a super-hero but a real-life hero,” he added.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's resume, which includes stints on Oz, Lost, and Hunted, was strong enough to land him the role of Malko on the upcoming season of Game of Thrones without an audition. "The producers had seen some of the work I've done before and invited me to be a part of it. It was that simple," Akinnuoye-Agbaje told Vulture at the premiere of his latest film Annie on Sunday. "There wasn't an audition process. It was just, Would you like to do this? And Yes! Thank you very much!" Still, he should feel right at home as he's already familiar with a lot of the cast members. "It's epic and there's a lot of actors I've worked with in there," he said. Indeed, Akinnuoye-Agbaje has already worked with Kit Harington (Jon Snow) on Pompeii, as well as Stephen Dillane (Stannis), Patrick Malahide (Balon Greyjoy) and Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand) on Hunted. »

Last week, Sony Pictures was crippled by a cyber-attack from an organization known as the Guardians of Peace (G.O.P.), which disabled all of their communications inside the company. The organization threatened to expose the studios' "top secrets" if their demands were not met, which have not been been disclosed. Over the weekend, G.O.P. leaked five Sony movies onto the Internet, four of which have not been released in theaters yet. The movies that were leaked online include Fury, Annie (December 19), Mr. Turner (December 19), Still Alice (January 19, 2015) and To Write Love On Her Arms, which doesn't have a release date set.
Over the weekend, Mashable received an email from an individual claiming to be the, "boss of the G.O.P." The site claims that their email sent in response went unanswered by the G.O.P. Take a look at an excerpt from that email below. »

Paul W.S. Anderson has continued his explorations in 3D cinema with his latest film, Pompeii. It’s a simplistic love story in the vein of Titanic, two mismatched, class-divided lovers contrasted against one of history’s worst natural disasters. The story concerns a Celtic gladiator named Milo (Kit Harrington), who witnessed the slaughter of his family by the Roman Empire, under the command of Corvus (Kiefer Sutherland). Soon, after being spotted as a promising business prospect for Pompeii’s gladiator games, Milo is sent to the titular city. While on the way, he first meets Cassia (Emily Browning), the melancholic (by way of Kate Winslet in Titanic) daughter of the wealthy class. After arriving in Pompeii, Milo meets fellow slave and gladiator Atticus (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and they soon become friends, bonded by their captivity. Corvus, now a senator, arrives in Pompeii to broker a land deal, and with all the players now arrived, »

The first image from Jay Roach’s dramedy biopic, Trumbo, has been released, offering a darned good look at leading man Bryan Cranston’s awesome moustache. Taking on the titular role, Cranston plays screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who back in the day was shunned by Hollywood for his involvement in the Communist Party.
The film takes place during the height of the cold war, during which time a group of ten screenwriters and directors were cited for contempt of Congress after refusing to testify about their ties to Communism. Trumbo was one such scribe, who shunned Congress’ House Committee on Un-American Activities in 1947 and was subsequently punished as a result.
Not only did the industry refuse to accommodate him, but he also spent eleven months in prison. Later in life, he managed to circumnavigate Hollywood’s shackles by writing under a pseudonym. Suffice it to say, his experiences never hindered his »

Will Gluck’s rendition of Annie looks cheesy to the max, but there’s just something about that story and those songs that’s undeniably appealing and packs the power to put a smile on your face regardless of flat humor and tacky dialogue. Plus, this latest trailer has little to no Cameron Diaz in it and that definitely works to the piece’s benefit. We’ll get to see what Quvenzhané Wallis is capable of post-Beasts of the Southern Wild when Annie hits theaters on December 19th. The film also stars Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and David Zayas. Hit the jump to check out the new Annie trailer. Here’s the official synopsis for Annie: A Broadway classic that has delighted audiences for generations comes to the big screen with a new, contemporary vision in Columbia Pictures’ comedy, Annie.
