Wrong Black Guy: Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Addressed as Malcolm-Jamal Warner at TCA

6 August 2017 4:21 PM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is a black man and an actor. Malcolm-Jamal Warner is too. They are not the same person, however. Late in the day Sunday during the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, one writer in the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom made a pretty bad faux pas while ABC’s “Ten Days in the Valley” panel was up on stage. This whole thing requires a bit of setup — Showrunner Tassie Cameron, Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kyra Sedgwick, Kick Gurry and Erika Christensen were in the house, representing their new limited series on the broadcast network. While Warner is in the cast, he was not in attendance today. »

The Shallows director looks set to helm Suicide Squad 2

12 July 2017 3:12 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Author: Scott Davis

It seems that Warner Bros and DC Comics are pushing ahead with their future plans for their Dceu with news that a director for the upcoming sequel to last year’s Suicide Squad may have been found.

Deadline is reporting that acclaimed director Jaume Collet-Serra is the new frontrunner to take over the anticipated sequel after many other filmmakers had been linked. Biggest of them was Mel Gibson, who directed last year’s hit Hacksaw Ridge, and had apparently met with WB to discuss the film but is seems that the actor/director has passed.

Suicide Squad 2 Targets The Shallows Director Jaume Collet-Serra

11 July 2017 6:47 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Just a few months after rumors of Mel Gibson directing Suicide Squad 2 surfaced, it seems the studio has set their sights on another filmmaker. Jaume Collet-Serra, who directed Unknown and Run All Night for Warner Bros., is reportedly the studio's top choice to take the helm on this sequel. Warner Bros. reportedly looked at a number of directors, including Mel Gibson, for this coveted directorial gig, but sources claim the studio is focused on putting Jaume Collet-Serra in the director's chair for this superhero sequel.

Deadline broke the news of Jaume Collet-Serra's potential involvement today, which comes just four months after the studio locked in a new Suicide Squad 2 writer, with Adam Cozad (The Legend of Tarzan) coming aboard to write the screenplay. Original Suicide Squad director David Ayer revealed last summer, just days after the first movie hit theaters, that he was already working on the story for the sequel. »

Marvel’s 'Black Panther' and 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Lead New Era of Diverse Superhero Films

10 July 2017 9:32 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Spider-Man: Homecoming is a Spider-Man movie for a new generation -- a generation that desires to see a franchise reflective and representative of the world they currently live in. Yes, Tom Holland's Peter Parker still has to balance crime fighting with homework; and yes, he's still white, but the cast of characters around him are not.

"That was the intention. You know, because it’s 2017," John Francis Daley, who co-wrote the film with Jonathan Goldstein, told Et at the movie's Los Angeles premiere on June 28.

"It was also important to make this the real world. The Marvel universe lives in a real sort of place, so we wanted to be a part of a real school. The real school is in New York," added Goldstein.

The Spider-Man first created by Marvel Comics' Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in the 1960s did live in a "real sort of place," but a seemingly »

Suicide Squad: (nearly) one year on

We pay a return visit to last year's Suicide Squad, to see how the passage of time and a rewatch has affected the experience...

Nb: The following contains copious spoilers for Suicide Squad and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

See related  Willy Wonka: new movie will not adapt any of the books, origin beats confirmed

Batman V Superman should've been simple. A lean, 100-minute exploration of how two of the biggest heroes in comics could wind up in a pitched battle against each other - and which of them might win.

Yet while we found things to like in Zack Snyder's superhero movie - Ben Affleck's weathered Bruce Wayne, Jeremy Irons' tech-savvy Alfred - it also felt overwhelmingly like an exercise in over-egging the pudding. Like a game of Jenga, Batman V Superman's narrative piled plot thread on top of plot thread (introductions for The Flash, »

Suicide Squad 2 could start shooting next year says Joel Kinnaman

6 June 2017 9:06 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Author: Scott Davis

This weekend, Wonder Woman has helped breathe new life in to the Dceu, the expanded cinematic superhero universe created by Warner Bros and DC Comics after a less-than-spectacular start last year. Through its global opening, the Patty Jenkins-directed film grossed over $223million worldwide and is set to top the weekend again come Sunday.

It’s a great result for both the studios given the reactions, both critically and from audiences, to their two previous efforts, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. Both were hits in terms of box office ($872.7million and $745.6million respectively) but there’s some work to do to realign the franchise in the eyes on the fans. WB are still pressing ahead with their films, including Justice League, Aquaman and Batgirl amongst others but one that seems to also be on the radar is a Suicide Squad sequel.

Watch the trailer for Andy Samberg’s mockumentary Tour de Pharmacy

HBO and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star and Saturday Night Live veteran Andy Samberg will be tackling the world of performance-enhancing drugs in the comedic Tour de Pharmacy, a mockumentary about the “dark and fictitious time in cycling history”: the 1982 Tour de France where everyone, apparently, was doping on drugs to win the race. Watch the trailer here…

In 1982, the sport’s most venerable, time-honored race was marred by the doping of virtually all of its competitors. Riddled with nefarious characters, that year’s competition was a hornet’s nest of moral depravity. Through the perspective of five riders, Tour de Pharmacy gives an inside look into the grim realities of the darkest event in a sport notoriously tainted by controversy.

The 50-minute comedy special was written by GirlsMurray Miller and is executive produced by Miller and Samberg. Joining Samberg in the film is a host of talent, such as John Cena, »
