'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Stunts Featurette

26 March 2015 1:40 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

With just over two weeks left until Season 5 of Game of Thrones debuts with "The Wars to Come", HBO has released a new behind-the-scenes preview that focuses on the elaborate stunt sequences. Stunt coordinator Rowley Irlam explains the process of creating these massive fight scenes, while explaining that Kit Harington (Jon Snow) does all of his own stunts, and Kristofer Hivju (Tormund) actually needs to be pulled back a bit because he is so intense. This featurette also gives us a new look at the Sand Snakes, Nym Sand (Jessica Henwick), Tyene Sand (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers) and Obara Sand (Keisha Castle-Hughes), with Rowley Irlam explaining that all three actresses had to be trained remotely, since they all live in different countries.

In Season 5, Jon Snow is struggling to balance the demands of the Night's Watch with those of the newly arrived Stannis Baratheon, who styles himself the rightful king of Westeros. »

'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Clip: Arya Arrives at House of Black & White

25 March 2015 9:42 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Back in December, HBO released a series of brief and vague clips from Season 5 of Game of Thrones, one of which appeared to show the door of The House of Black and White in Braavos. Last night, series star Maisie Williams appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she unveiled a new clip that showed Arya finally making it to The House of Black and White. At the end of Season 4, Arya set sail for Braavos, across the Narrow Sea, and this clip shows that her plan may have been in vain all along. Here's what she had to say on Jimmy Kimmel Live! about this scene.

"The new season for Arya is totally different than what we've seen before. She's in a completely new location, and you see the doors were black and white, and anyone who's read the books knows that's a really exciting place for her to be. »

2 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Clips: Tyrion Confronts Varys

18 March 2015 3:04 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

With just under one month left until the Season 5 premiere of HBO's Game of Thrones, the network has released two new clips, one of which reveals why the episode is entitled "The Wars to Come". The first scene features Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), who escaped from Westeros at the end of Season 4, conversing with the man who helped him get out of King's Landing, Lord Varys (Conleth Hill). Since Varys is not related to the Lannisters in any way, Tyrion asks him why he arranged the escape. Varys reveals that he did what he did for the good of the realm, and that a man of Tyrion's talents will be needed in "the wars to come."

The second clip takes us north of the Wall, with Jon Snow (Kit Harington) talking to Mance Rayder (Ciar&#225n Hinds) about pride. This clip also references that Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) and his »

NBC’s Odyssey Retitled American Odyssey On Eve Of Debut

13 March 2015 6:05 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

NBC has tweaked the title of its upcoming drama Odyssey less than a month before its premiere, renaming the show American Odyssey.

Though the network declined to comment on what spurred the name change, sources close to the production say the new title better reflects the arduous journey of protagonist Odelle (Anna Friel), an American soldier beset by enemies on all sides as she attempts to return to her friends and family in New York.

Of course, the more cynical answer is that NBC execs weren’t living under a rock in January, when American Sniper stormed the box office and racked up Oscar nominations. Renaming the show American Odyssey may make the series more palatable to the same right-leaning audiences that sent Sniper soaring.

The transformation in NBC’s advertising campaign, tied in with the name-change, is quite startling. Whereas Friel’s protagonist was before on her knees, with her hands bound, »

'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Preview: Sand Snake Weapons

3 March 2015 10:31 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

As with every season of HBO's Game of Thrones, fans will be introduced to several new characters in Season 5, which debuts in just over a month. Three of the characters fans are most looking forward to debuting are Nymeria Sand (Jessica Henwick), Tyene Sand (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers) and Obara Sand (Keisha Castle-Hughes), better known as the Sand Snakes, the bastard daughters of Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal). HBO has released a new behind-the-scenes preview about the weapons of Martell's hoemland of Dorne, which gives us a new look at the Sand Snakes.

Dorne will be one of several new lands featured in Season 5, and as you can see in the video below, the women of Dorne are certainly not to be trifled with. Keisha Castle-Hughes' Obara Sand prefers the spear as her weapon of choice, which is the same weapon her father used to battle The Mountain (Haf&#254&#243r J »

Smith to Have One of His Worst Domestic Openings Ever: 'Focus'

1 March 2015 1:58 AM, PST | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

'Focus' movie: Will Smith has third weakest weekend box-office debut of his career (photo: Will Smith in 'Focus') According to those referred to in polite society as "conservatives," winter storms and freezing temperatures are evidence that there's no such thing as global warming. Let's not even go there. Instead, let's focus (bad pun intended) on the Focus movie starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie as a con couple, which opened below expectations – with wintery weather as a possible culprit – in North America this weekend, February 27-March 1, 2015. According to box-office tracking, as late as a couple of days ago Warner Bros.' modestly budgeted Focus was expected to take in between $22-24 million. Barring a miracle akin to a sudden halt to rising ocean temperatures (pardon the hyperbole), that's not about to happen. Now, before I proceed: "modestly budgeted"? Well, for a Will Smith movie, $50 million – after »

Adding Possible 2016 Oscar Contenders in 'Trumbo', 'Splash', 'Grind' and 'Face'

I know, I know... it's early in the year and the Oscars just ended and Oh my God what are you doingc Yet, the wheels keep turning and I like to be ahead of the game rather than playing catch up at the end of the year so I'm trying to make sure the database is locked and loaded for Oscar 2016 and I just got done adding a few contenders, contenders such as... Luca Guadagnino's A Bigger Splash, which Fox Searchlight just acquired for distribution starring Matthias Schoenaerts, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Dakota Johnson and Aurore Clement. The pic centers on a high profile couple, a famous rock star and a filmmaker (Schoenaerts and Swinton), vacationing and recovering on the idyllic sun-drenched and remote Italian island of Pantelleria are disrupted by the unexpected visit of an old friend and his daughter (Fiennes and Johnson) - creating a whirlwind of jealousy, »

'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Poster: Tyrion Vs. Daenerys' Dragon!

27 February 2015 1:18 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

With the Season 5 premiere getting closer by the day, HBO has released a new poster for the highly-anticipated return of Game of Thrones, featuring Peter Dinklage's Tyrion Lannister and Drogon, one of the three massive dragons raised by Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). As you may recall, in the Season 4 finale, the fugitive Tyrion left Westeros and set sail for Essos, where Daenerys currently rules in the city of Meereen. You may also recall that, in the trailer released last month, Varys (Conleth Hill) told Tyrion to seek out the dragon queen Daenerys. Could this poster be a hint that Tyrion and Daenerys are forming an alliance?

It's also completely possible that this scenario never actually happens, especially since it isn't a part of George R.R. Martin's books. However, there has been plenty of talk that Season 5 will stray from the beloved novels, including deaths of some characters in »

'Game of Thrones' Season 5 More Shocking Than the Red Wedding?

Exactly two months from today, Game of Thrones will finally return with the Season 5 Premiere, which may be the most anticipated season yet, following the successful IMAX screenings last month and the A Day in the Life special that aired last weekend. One story line that fans are waiting for is the new journey of Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), who reluctantly fled Kings Landing with Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen). The actress recently spoke about Season 5 in a new interview with The Huffington Post, where she teased that this season is even more shocking than the Red Wedding.

"There's some massive moments, perhaps even more shocking than the Red Wedding type of thing. There's like a lot going on this season. There's also, you know, a lot of blood, a lot of death. And a lot of people kind of come far. And there are a few familiar faces around as well. »
