This weekend, Wonder Woman has helped breathe new life in to the Dceu, the expanded cinematic superhero universe created by Warner Bros and DC Comics after a less-than-spectacular start last year. Through its global opening, the Patty Jenkins-directed film grossed over $223million worldwide and is set to top the weekend again come Sunday.
It’s a great result for both the studios given the reactions, both critically and from audiences, to their two previous efforts, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. Both were hits in terms of box office ($872.7million and $745.6million respectively) but there’s some work to do to realign the franchise in the eyes on the fans. WB are still pressing ahead with their films, including Justice League, Aquaman and Batgirl amongst others but one that seems to also be on the radar is a Suicide Squad sequel.

HBO and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star and Saturday Night Live veteran Andy Samberg will be tackling the world of performance-enhancing drugs in the comedic Tour de Pharmacy, a mockumentary about the “dark and fictitious time in cycling history”: the 1982 Tour de France where everyone, apparently, was doping on drugs to win the race. Watch the trailer here…
In 1982, the sport’s most venerable, time-honored race was marred by the doping of virtually all of its competitors. Riddled with nefarious characters, that year’s competition was a hornet’s nest of moral depravity. Through the perspective of five riders, Tour de Pharmacy gives an inside look into the grim realities of the darkest event in a sport notoriously tainted by controversy.

The first trailer for the Netflix film “Bright” appeared during the 2017 Academy Awards, and it looked a bit like “Suicide Squad 2.” Director David Ayer has brought back Will Smith from “Suicide Squad” for the $90 million movie. It stars Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace and a guy who looks a bit like Killer Croc — who was also in “Suicide Squad.” In fact, the makeup used on Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje helped “Suicide Squad” net the Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Mel Gibson is in early discussions to direct Warner Bros.’ sequel to “Suicide Squad,” TheWrap has learned. The “Hacksaw Ridge” helmer, back in Hollywood’s good graces thanks to the success of his pacifist war film, is on a short list to tackle the villain ensemble’s next outing. It would be Mel Gibson’s first franchise Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Cara Delevingne and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje were among the original cast. »
