True friendship

The film shoes how true friends can go to any extent for each other. Even if that means ending up in jail. »

Anil Kapoor wants to cast Ranveer and Sidharth in Ram Lakhan remake

27 June 2015 5:48 AM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Ever since producer Karan Johar announced that he is remaking Subhash Ghai’s 1989 superhit film “Ram Lakhan” that starred Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia, there has been lot of excitement over the film’s casting. Many actor’s name also did the round in the middle time but no one has been finalized for the remake, to be directed by Rohit Shetty.

However when Jackie and Anil who played Ram and Lakhan respectively in the original, asked about who would be their choice to reprise their characters in the remake, they mentioned Ranveer Singh and Sidharth Malhotra’s name.

Anil who was recently seen in Zoya Akhtar’s “Dil Dhadakne Do”, recently said in an interview, “I feel who is best for the film commercially, they should cast him. But If I was a producer, I would cast Ranveer as Lakhan. Ram would be Sidharth Malhotra because of the intensity. »

Hamari Adhuri Kahani is decent, Dil Dhadakne Do average, Tanu Weds Manu Returns All Time Blockbuster

21 June 2015 2:24 AM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Despite all the negative reviews that came the way of Hamari Adhuri Kahani, the film has managed to demonstrate decent hold at the box office, especially on the weekdays. There was patronage from the crowds in the interiors that ensures that between Monday and Thursday, the film collected over 10 crore, hence bringing the film in the safe zone. As a result, the first week’s billing of the Mohit Suri directed film is over 27 crore, which is better than what it had seemed till Saturday, before a reasonable jump on Sunday brought back smiles on the face of those involved with the film.

Of course a lot more was expected from the film due to the credentials involved. Ideally, a film like Hamari Adhuri Kahani should have looked at a lifetime total of over 50 crore at least. However, with the film primarily finding audience in the single screens, it would now reach till the 35 crore. »

Ask her about the best compliment she received and she says, "Mr. Javed Akhtar had some really kind words to say to me after the screening of the film and they are my biggest compliment till date."

Standing out in a film like Dil Dhadakne Do with so many established actors is no easy task, Ridhima. We hope to see a lot more of you on the silver screen soon. »

Dil Dhadakne Do has a decent first week

15 June 2015 12:01 AM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Dil Dhadakne Do, after a reasonably good opening weekend of 37 crore, needed an ultra-stable week ahead for substantial collections. Though collections were not a rage during the weekdays, they didn’t fall either and kept around the mid-way mark. As a result, around 20 crore more came between Monday to Friday, as a result of which the first week collections of the Zoya Akhtar film stand around the 57 crore mark. Though these are not excellent numbers for a star studded affair like this, considering the fact that industry had been bleeding till just about 5-6 weeks back, these are still fine numbers for sure.

The film has now enjoyed the third best opening of the year after Tanu Weds Manu Returns (70 crore) and Gabbar Is Back (60 crore). However, while Tanu Weds Manu Returns is continuing to do wonders (more about that later), Gabbar Is Back too held through well and crossed the 86 crore mark. »

Hamari Adhuri Kahani is dull, 57 crore for Dil Dhadakne Do

12 June 2015 10:25 PM, PDT | GlamSham | See recent GlamSham news »

Right on expected and predictable lines, this week's major Hindi release, Mohit Suri's Hamari Adhuri Kahani, embarked on a dull start of about 25 percent, with some of the massy areas of Central and North India being better. With the mixed reviews tending towards negative, the Emraan, Vidya and Rajkummar starrer has an uphill task during the remaining two days of the weekend.

In fact, as we had said in our weekly box-office report, brand Jurassic ensured a good to decent start for the latest edition, Jurassic World, and managed a 40-50 percent start. But thanks to a higher number of prints and the mass belt decent performance, it'll be Hamari Adhuri Kahani which will manage a better first day, though just about.

Concluding with Excel Entertainment's Anil, Shefali, Priyanka, Farhan, Ranveer and Anushka starrer Dil Dhadakne Do, after a good 37 crore opening weekend, the film maintained beautifully during the weekdays as well, »

Editorial Blog: Five lessons Indian parents should learn from ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’

12 June 2015 4:00 AM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Zoya Akhtar’s new film Dil Dhadakne Do, which released on Friday, did well over the weekend. The bittersweet comedy about a dysfunctional Punjabi family actually depicts the many problems Indian families have to face while their kids are growing up in a Westernized civilization, in contrast to the upbringing they had, making communication between parents and children a huge problem.

This is not only a problem in India, but with many Nri’s as well. Therefore, I am of the opinion that Indian parents should watch this film, as it shows why their reasoning isn’t relevant in todays day and age. I do have to add that the movie had several comical twists that made the serious moments a little less heavy as opposed to what they are in real life.

Stop Interfering

The movie states that Indian parents interfere way too long in the lives of their children, »

Why Raveena Tandon said no to Dil Dhadakne Do

12 June 2015 3:16 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Because she didn't look old enough to be convincing as Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra's mother, Raveena opted out of Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do.

Says a source, "Zoya was very keen to have Raveena in Anil Kapoor's wife's part. But when Raveena did a photo-shoot she looked like Priyanka's sister rather than mother. Zoya suggested that Raveena put on weight and add wrinkles on her face through makeup. Raveena didn't relish the idea. That was when Shefali was brought in."

Raveena, informs a close friend of hers, not only turned down Zoya's film, she also turns down lucrative ads which require her to endorse domestic products with children. Raveena Tandon knows playing a mother on screen of any size and in any format is the end of her career as a leading lady."

How Ranveer rocked Dil Dhadakne Do

12 June 2015 1:00 AM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do has been wowing audiences all over and while the entire ensemble cast is terrific in the film, Ranveer Singh has been singled out for his outstanding performance. As Kabir Mehra, the boy man of the family who still wants his plane over anything else, he brings the right doses of innocence and maturity to the difficult part and is splendid in every scene he appears in.

The reviews from here and abroad have pointed out the same. We here at BollySpice said: “Ranveer is a pleasant surprise as the kid with a silver spoon who has had enough with his parents dictating his life for him. It’s a welcome change from his usually brattish Casanova roles.”

Taran Adarsh of Bollywoodhungama wrote: “Ranveer Singh has definitely taken a giant leap from all of his previous performances and delivers a crisp act here. He holds »
