“Umrika,” “The Fourth Direction” and “Song of the Horned Owl” join the festival’s India Gold competitive section for locally-made titles.
As previously announced, the festival will open with Hansal Mehta’s “Aligarh” and run Oct. 29 – Nov. 5.
The festival, now in its 17th edition, has this year been bolstered by a crowd of heavyweight Bollywood personalities and the sponsorship commitment of Reliance Jio, part of Mukesh Ambani’s corporate giant Reliance Industries. That followed a cash crunch last year that necessitated a partially crowd-funded scramble for funding only weeks before curtain up.
The event is now headed by former Variety writer Anupama Chopra as festival director, Nita Ambani as co-chair and director and activist Kiran Rao as chairperson. Other trustees include filmmakers Vikramaditya Motwane, »

It is a renowned fact that Ranveer Singh got his first big break in Bollywood under the prestigious Yrf banner with Band Baaja Baaraat and incidentally, he was paired opposite Anushka Sharma in the film. The onscreen couple later went on to do another film with Yrf titled Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl and now the pair is all set to work with Yash Raj once again. From what we hear, Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma will be paired together for the fourth time (last being Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do) in Aditya Chopra's upcoming directorial. It's been a while since Aditya Chopra has donned the director's hat and interestingly his last directorial Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi marked the debut of Anushka Sharma in Bollywood. It's one of those rare films you can watch again and again without really getting bored. As it completes four years, we give you 8 reasons that make it a timeless watch. Take a look...
This was one of the major highlights of the film. Be it the love (when Hrithik falls for Katrina), happiness (when Hrithik feels so good after scooba diving that he cries), sadness (when Farhan is feeling low after meeting his father) or the zest to live (last scene when Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay run for their lives), Znmd's poems are so damn relatable!
The film shoes how true friends can go to any extent for each other. Even if that means ending up in jail. »

Earning an approximate of 91 crore, Baby was not only declared a hit, but the makers, reportedly, even announced a sequel to the movie!
Ever since producer Karan Johar announced that he is remaking Subhash Ghai’s 1989 superhit film “Ram Lakhan” that starred Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia, there has been lot of excitement over the film’s casting. Many actor’s name also did the round in the middle time but no one has been finalized for the remake, to be directed by Rohit Shetty.
However when Jackie and Anil who played Ram and Lakhan respectively in the original, asked about who would be their choice to reprise their characters in the remake, they mentioned Ranveer Singh and Sidharth Malhotra’s name.
Anil who was recently seen in Zoya Akhtar’s “Dil Dhadakne Do”, recently said in an interview, “I feel who is best for the film commercially, they should cast him. But If I was a producer, I would cast Ranveer as Lakhan. Ram would be Sidharth Malhotra because of the intensity. »

Not revealing too much about the films, the actress said, "They'll announce it when they are ready. I am super thrilled to be working with them. Vicky Donor was such a game changer."
We agree, Ridhima. Here's hoping your next films will also be game changers like Vicky Donor. »
Ridhima Sud, who played an important role in Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do, says that at no point she was worried about starring in a film with popular actors like Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar.
Says the actress, "I did not think I'd be overshadowed by them. The star cast is a huge bonus. If it weren't for their popular faces no one would know me so quickly! And an honest performance will always get noticed I feel, irrespective of screen time."
Point taken, Ridhima. And we hope to see more of you on the big screen soon. »
Despite all the negative reviews that came the way of Hamari Adhuri Kahani, the film has managed to demonstrate decent hold at the box office, especially on the weekdays. There was patronage from the crowds in the interiors that ensures that between Monday and Thursday, the film collected over 10 crore, hence bringing the film in the safe zone. As a result, the first week’s billing of the Mohit Suri directed film is over 27 crore, which is better than what it had seemed till Saturday, before a reasonable jump on Sunday brought back smiles on the face of those involved with the film.
Of course a lot more was expected from the film due to the credentials involved. Ideally, a film like Hamari Adhuri Kahani should have looked at a lifetime total of over 50 crore at least. However, with the film primarily finding audience in the single screens, it would now reach till the 35 crore. »

Says the actress, "I did not expect such an overwhelming response. It is really nice to get this appreciation but it also makes me nervous. I guess that's an added motivation to do even better in my next film."
Ask her about the best compliment she received and she says, "Mr. Javed Akhtar had some really kind words to say to me after the screening of the film and they are my biggest compliment till date."
Standing out in a film like Dil Dhadakne Do with so many established actors is no easy task, Ridhima. We hope to see a lot more of you on the silver screen soon. »
Dil Dhadakne Do, after a reasonably good opening weekend of 37 crore, needed an ultra-stable week ahead for substantial collections. Though collections were not a rage during the weekdays, they didn’t fall either and kept around the mid-way mark. As a result, around 20 crore more came between Monday to Friday, as a result of which the first week collections of the Zoya Akhtar film stand around the 57 crore mark. Though these are not excellent numbers for a star studded affair like this, considering the fact that industry had been bleeding till just about 5-6 weeks back, these are still fine numbers for sure.
The film has now enjoyed the third best opening of the year after Tanu Weds Manu Returns (70 crore) and Gabbar Is Back (60 crore). However, while Tanu Weds Manu Returns is continuing to do wonders (more about that later), Gabbar Is Back too held through well and crossed the 86 crore mark. »

For the first time Rahul Bose is sharing screen space with Priyanka Chopra in Dil Dhadakne Do and the fresh pairing has already created buzz. Rahul is playing Priyanka’s on screen husband and talking about it, he says, “It will be difficult for me to name a harder working actress that I have worked with than Priyanka. Not only is she incredibly well-prepared, she is also instinctive, intuitive and fearless.” But the quality that he really appreciates is her team spirit. “She is a real team player on a set,” adds Rahul.
When asked about the on-set experience with his co-stars, the actor says, “It’s been one of the most satisfying film experiences. All the actors worked incredibly hard. Right on expected and predictable lines, this week's major Hindi release, Mohit Suri's Hamari Adhuri Kahani, embarked on a dull start of about 25 percent, with some of the massy areas of Central and North India being better. With the mixed reviews tending towards negative, the Emraan, Vidya and Rajkummar starrer has an uphill task during the remaining two days of the weekend.
In fact, as we had said in our weekly box-office report, brand Jurassic ensured a good to decent start for the latest edition, Jurassic World, and managed a 40-50 percent start. But thanks to a higher number of prints and the mass belt decent performance, it'll be Hamari Adhuri Kahani which will manage a better first day, though just about.
Concluding with Excel Entertainment's Anil, Shefali, Priyanka, Farhan, Ranveer and Anushka starrer Dil Dhadakne Do, after a good 37 crore opening weekend, the film maintained beautifully during the weekdays as well, »
