The extremely popular Pakistani artist Shujat Ali Khan has enjoyed great success with his recently released ‘Jaagi Mori Akhiyan’ and now he’s back to lend his vocal talents to the the beautiful and dreamy ‘Chain Kadi Nahi Mildaa‘.

The song is produced by Rishi Rich and features on the soundtrack of the movie Amar Akbar & Tony.

Amar Akbar & Tony boasts an intriguing cast line-up, balancing new and familiar faces. With Rez Kempton, Martin Delaney and Sam Vincenti taking the leads, the comedy drama also stars Bluestone 42’s Laura Aikman and former Waterloo Rd star Karen David as well as special cameos byMeera Syal and Nina Wadia as you’ve never seen them before. Director Atul Malhotra on all things Amar Akbar and Tony

Director Atul Malhotra’s romantic comedy drama Amar Akbar and Tony set in present day multicultural London is getting ready to hit the big screen on Friday April 17th.

Written by Malhotra, Aat tells the tale of a a Sikh, a Muslim and an Irish Catholic who take stock of their lives in the coming-of-age story.

The film explores the predicaments that face its lead trio – Amar (Rez Kempton), whose promising career gets derailed by a turn of events, Tony (Martin Delaney), whose obsession with winning over the Asian woman of his dreams finds him pursuing the wrong woman, while Akbar (Sam Vincenti), an ambitious charmer, tries to manage business, love and friendship with the gift of the gab.

Before she sang “Galavaaant” across the castles and fields of England, actress Karen David was filming in London for Atul Malhotra’s Brit Indie film Amar, Akbar & Tony. Amar, Akbar & Tony are three best friends who all are from different backgrounds. It is about the camaraderie and love between these three friends through trials, tribulations, predicaments they face and the happy times as they grow up and come of age.

In the comedy/drama, Karen plays the mysterious character of Meera, but that is all we know! What we do know is that according to director Atul, she has done an incredible job.

Stacey got the chance to catch up with Karen and had a fun, fabulous chat about the challenges playing Meera, what she thinks is so special about this Indie film and more! Enjoy!

The Stars of Brit-Flick Amar Akbar & Tony shine at the British premiere

The much anticipated British independent comedy – Amar Akbar & Tony premiered in London last Friday night to a star-studded audience at Cineworld Haymarket, in London’s West End.

The evening was hosted by legends of Radio premiere saw stars of stage and screen join the impressive cast line up which included; Rez Kempton (Amar), Martin Delaney (Tony), Karen David (Meera), Laura Aikman (Samantha), Amrita Acharia (Richa) and Goldy Notay (Sonia) and Meera Syal (Honey).

Celebrity guests included: Kevin Bishop, Michelle Collins, Rebecca Grant, Sunny and Shay Grewall, Mathew Lewis, Gemma Oaten, Seema Pathan, Nikesh Patel, Rishi Rich and Fiona Wade amongst whole a host of other stars who had turned out to support the film and its cast.

In his career, Martin Delaney has starred on stage, on television and has been seen in feature films like Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty playing a myriad of characters.  Taking on the challenge of doing something a bit different, the young actor plays the role of Tony in the British independent film Amar Akbar & Tony a realistic, multicultural coming-of age comedy drama.

Opening on April 17th, is the British Asian Independent film Amar Akbar & Tony. Directed by Atul Malhotra, the film stars a brilliant cast of actors including Rez Kempton, Sam Vincenti, Martin Delaney, Karen David, Laura Aikman, Nina Wadia, Goldy Notay, and many more.

The film tells the tale of three childhood friends a Sikh, a Muslim and an Irish Catholic who take stock of their lives in contemporary London.

Amar Akbar & Tony’s Music is by Rishi Rich

Award-winning producer and music mogul Rishi Rich has created a stomping score and soundtrack to the new British independent film, Amar Akbar & Tony.

The first track to be released from the soundtrack is a funky new version of the classic track from the 80s film Laawaris, and features the rappers Stax and Anaiya, with of course Rishi’s inimitable and distinct musical magic.

Rich is a highly respected name in the music scene and has made waves in the industry both in the UK and the Us. Currently signed to the Teddy Riley Group and based in Atlanta, Rishi has worked with international artists such as BlackStreet, Mary J Blige, Britney Spears and Estelle as well as Jay Sean and his own music collective The Rishi Rich Project.

The Job Lot recommissioned for third series on ITV2

The Job Lot has been recommissioned for a third series.

The ITV2 comedy will begin filming new episodes in the spring, with Sarah Hadland and Russell Tovey set to return as Trish and Karl.

Laura Aikman, Jo Enright, Angela Curran, Martin Marquez and Sophie McShera will also reprise their roles in the new series.

The second series concluded with Tovey's Karl finally getting together with deputy manager Natalie, played by Aikman. The third series will see their relationship put to the test in the workplace.

Saskia Schuster, ITV's Comedy Commissioner, said: "We're really happy to bring back this delightfully warm comedy set in a Midlands job centre. The scripts are yet again superbly written as we catch up with our favourite characters."

Waterloo Road star Laura Aikman joins BBC Three's Bluestone 42

Laura Aikman has joined the cast of Bluestone 42 series three.

The Waterloo Road actress will appear in the latter half of the BBC Three comedy series, which follows the lives of a bomb disposal team in Afghanistan.

Aikman will play a high-threat-bomb disposal expert called Ellen Best, who finds it hard to fit in with the rest of the group.

The actress said: "It's been awesome to join the cast of Bluestone 42, especially as I was already a fan of the show.

"It's also given me an amazing opportunity to learn so much about the army and make some amazing new friends, who I may never otherwise have met."

Returning cast members include Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter), Oliver Chris (Breathless), Katie Lyons (The Crimson Petal And The White) and Tony Gardner (Last Tango in Halifax).

Bluestone 42 will return to BBC Three later in 2015. »
