The International Indian Film Academy today announced the winners of the technical categories of India’s most prestigious international awards, The International Indian Film Awards.
The Iifa Rocks and Technical Awards are set to take place on the 5th of June in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This year’s Videocon D2H Iifa Weekend celebrations are slated for the first weekend of June, from the 5th – 7th in Kuala Lumpur.
Haider takes over the list this year and walks away with 6 awards in the technical category including Costume Designing (Dolly Ahluwalia), Background Score (Vishal Bhardwaj), Sound Mixing (Debajit Changmai), Sound Design (Shajith Koyeri), Production Design (Subrata Chakraborty & Amit Ray) and Make-up (Preetisheel Singh & Clover Wootton).
Other winners in the Technical category are Queen and Kick with 2 nods each. Queen took home the award for Screenplay (Vikas Bahl, Chaitally Parmar, Parveez Shaikh) and Editing (Aburag Kashyap and Abhijit Kokate) while Kick walked »

Kangana Ranaut has achieved what very few mainstream Bollywood actors achieve by winning the prestigious National Award for Best Actress. Kangana won the award for her critically-acclaimed performance in the woman oriented drama/comedy Queen, directed by Vikas Bahl. She is just one of many people to have scored at this year’s National Film Awards, which celebrate the best of cinema on a national scale and beyond Bollywood also. Queen also won the award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
Kangana has won a National Award before for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Fashion (2008). Given the unanimous praise she has received for her work in Queen, this story comes as no surprise. Congratulations Kangana!

The winners for the 60th Britannia Filmfare Awards have been announced with fresh new faces scoring big at the prestigious ceremony. Female-oriented comedy/drama Queen scooped up the most awards this year, with leading lady Kangana Ranaut deservedly winning the Best Actress Award. The film also took home the Best Director Award for Vikas Bahl, as well as Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Background Score.
Shakespearean drama Haider, which has received non-stop praise upon release, took most of the acting honours, which include Best Actor for Shahid Kapoor, Best Supporting Actor for Kay Kay Menon and Best Supporting Actress for Tabu. Alia Bhatt also received recognition for her critically-acclaimed performance in Imtiaz Ali’s Highway by receiving the award for Best Actress (Critics). Sanjay Mishra also won the Best Actor (Critics) for his performance in Ankhon Dekhi, which also took home Best Film (Critics).
