Billboard Music Awards to Air Live Coast-to-Coast on NBC

NBC will air the Billboard Music Awards live coast-to-coast in a three hour telecast on May 20, the network announced Tuesday.

This will mark the first telecast of the music awards show on NBC. The network acquired the rights to the Billboard Music Awards in a multi-year deal with show producers dick clark productions signed in November. The show had previously been broadcast on ABC since 2011.

Finalists for the awards are based on key interactions with music fans, as well as album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social engagement, tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The finalists and award winners are determined using data reflecting a 12-month tracking period. Since 1940, the Billboard charts have been the go-to guide for ranking the popularity of artists, songs and albums, and are the ultimate measure of success in music.

Seth Meyers Reveals Amy Poehler, Tina Fey Influence on His Golden Globes Hosting

Seth Meyers Reveals Amy Poehler, Tina Fey Influence on His Golden Globes Hosting
When Seth Meyers takes the stage on Sunday as host of the 75th annual Golden Globes Awards, he will be taking lessons from two of the awards show’s most beloved past hosts: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

In a departure from some of his fellow comedians, who have opened awards shows with elaborate musical numbers or pre-taped segments, Meyers said he will stick to a more traditional monologue, like Fey and Poehler did during their hosting stints.

“It’s all just jokes. You know, having worked with Amy and Tina, I’m just doing the same process they did,” Meyers told Variety on Thursday morning, when he rolled out the official red carpet ahead of the Golden Globes. He was joined by Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Meher Tatna, executive producers Barry Adelman and Allen Shapiro, and Beverly Hills mayor Lili Bosse for the ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Globes and Beverly Hilton Are a Golden Hollywood Couple

Globes and Beverly Hilton Are a Golden Hollywood Couple
It’s one of contemporary Hollywood’s most enduring relationships: for 47 years the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. has made the Beverly Hilton its home for the Golden Globe Awards. No other annual awards event is so intertwined with its venue. Even with changes in ownership, from Conrad Hilton to Merv Griffin to Beny Alagem, several renovations and now a major upgrade (the addition of the 170-room Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills on the former Trader Vic’s corner), the nonprofit remains firm in its commitment to 1,300-guest Intl. Ballroom for its kudos fest.

2018 will mark the ceremony’s 43rd consecutive outing at the hotel. And it’s been suggested the HFPA may host its own glam afterparty at the hotel’s recently completed The Gardens tripartite outdoor venue.

“We have great people, great energy and the most professional staff,” says the Beverly Hilton’s owner, entrepreneur Alagem. The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills’ opening tops Alagem’s decade-long effort

Just days after the late mother-daughter duo was laid to rest, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association paid homage to the actresses with the first-ever Golden Globes In Memoriam tribute.

After a brief introduction from host Jimmy Fallon, Reynolds and Fisher were honored with a video reel highlighting their cinematic accomplishments through the years, set to Reynolds' performance of the song, "You Made Me Love You." The tribute concluded with footage of the duo sweetly embracing on-stage, followed by an on-screen slate of their names and a simple heart graphic.

Golden Globes: Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds Honored in 2017 Memoriam

Golden Globes: Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds Honored in 2017 Memoriam
The 2017 Golden Globe Awards took a moment to honor two recent celebrities that have passed away this year, Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. Typically, the ceremony doesn’t include an “In Memoriam,” but losing such dear and iconic talent, the Golden Globes paid tribute to the beloved stars by showing a video of the two stars.

The clip showed a handful of scenes from both of their movies including “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Star Wars,” “When Harry Met Sally…” and many, many more.

“We have not done an ‘In Memoriam’ on the Golden Globes. Those things are handled really well by the Oscars and the Screen Actors Guild,” producer Barry Adelman told People. “But we do realize there were some special circumstances of very recent nature that happened and I think we’ll be acknowledging that.”

Fisher passed away on December 27 after suffering a heart attack. Her mother, Reynolds, died the following day,

Exclusive: Mariah Carey's Manager Is 'Furious' Over 'Disastrous' Nye Performance
The fallout from Mariah Carey's headline-making New Year's Eve performance continues.

Carey's manager, Stella Bulochnikov, is doubling down on accusations against the producers of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest in a new interview with Et.

"I'm furious," Bulochnikov told Et's Carly Steel on Wednesday in Studio City, California. "She cut her vacation short. She came there to have a festive moment, not a disastrous moment."

The singer suffered technical difficulties after hitting the stage just before midnight on Saturday in New York City, eventually causing her to walk off stage. After the show, Carey tweeted: "S**t happens. Have a happy and healthy new year everybody. Here's to making more headlines in 2017."

Why Jimmy Fallon Was the ‘Obvious Choice’ to Host Golden Globes

Jimmy Fallon has mastered the monologue as host of NBC’s “The Tonight Show” and now he’s ready to put his stamp on the Golden Globes on Jan. 8.

It will be the latest in a string of major awards shows to be guided by late-night hosts. ABC is handing the Oscar reins to Jimmy Kimmel, who had also hosted the Primetime Emmys last September for the network, while James Corden, who hosted the Tonys for CBS last June, is on board for the Grammys.

But while Kimmel and Corden have hosted top-drawer awards shows on multiple occasions (as did other late-night hosts including Conan O’Brien and Jon Stewart before them), this is only Fallon’s second major awards show gig, and his first since guiding the Primetime Emmys on NBC in 2010.

Jimmy Fallon in primetime is pretty rare game,” says Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of alternative and reality, who
