Globes and Beverly Hilton Are a Golden Hollywood Couple

2 August 2017 10:00 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

It’s one of contemporary Hollywood’s most enduring relationships: for 47 years the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. has made the Beverly Hilton its home for the Golden Globe Awards. No other annual awards event is so intertwined with its venue. Even with changes in ownership, from Conrad Hilton to Merv Griffin to Beny Alagem, several renovations and now a major upgrade (the addition of the 170-room Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills on the former Trader Vic’s corner), the nonprofit remains firm in its commitment to 1,300-guest Intl. Ballroom for its kudos fest.

2018 will mark the ceremony’s 43rd consecutive outing at the hotel. And it’s been suggested the HFPA may host its own glam afterparty at the hotel’s recently completed The Gardens tripartite outdoor venue.

“We have great people, great energy and the most professional staff,” says the Beverly Hilton’s owner, entrepreneur Alagem. The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills’ opening tops Alagem’s decade-long effort »

Hollywood continues to mourn the loss of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

Just days after the late mother-daughter duo was laid to rest, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association paid homage to the actresses with the first-ever Golden Globes In Memoriam tribute.

After a brief introduction from host Jimmy Fallon, Reynolds and Fisher were honored with a video reel highlighting their cinematic accomplishments through the years, set to Reynolds' performance of the song, "You Made Me Love You." The tribute concluded with footage of the duo sweetly embracing on-stage, followed by an on-screen slate of their names and a simple heart graphic.

Golden Globes: Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds Honored in 2017 Memoriam

8 January 2017 6:39 PM, PST | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

The 2017 Golden Globe Awards took a moment to honor two recent celebrities that have passed away this year, Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. Typically, the ceremony doesn’t include an “In Memoriam,” but losing such dear and iconic talent, the Golden Globes paid tribute to the beloved stars by showing a video of the two stars.

The clip showed a handful of scenes from both of their movies including “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Star Wars,” “When Harry Met Sally…” and many, many more.

“We have not done an ‘In Memoriam’ on the Golden Globes. Those things are handled really well by the Oscars and the Screen Actors Guild,” producer Barry Adelman told People. “But we do realize there were some special circumstances of very recent nature that happened and I think we’ll be acknowledging that.”

Exclusive: Mariah Carey's Manager Is 'Furious' Over 'Disastrous' Nye Performance

4 January 2017 7:52 PM, PST | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

The fallout from Mariah Carey's headline-making New Year's Eve performance continues.

Carey's manager, Stella Bulochnikov, is doubling down on accusations against the producers of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest in a new interview with Et.

"I'm furious," Bulochnikov told Et's Carly Steel on Wednesday in Studio City, California. "She cut her vacation short. She came there to have a festive moment, not a disastrous moment."

The singer suffered technical difficulties after hitting the stage just before midnight on Saturday in New York City, eventually causing her to walk off stage. After the show, Carey tweeted: "S**t happens. Have a happy and healthy new year everybody. Here's to making more headlines in 2017."
