Exclusive: Joe Swanberg Made a Christmas Movie on 16mm With Anna Kendrick, Lena Dunham, Melanie Lynskey, and Mark Webber

Joe Swanberg has undoubtedly entered into a new stage of his career, but that hasn't slowed down his output. "Drinking Buddies," his romantic comedy starring Olivia Wilde and Anna Kendrick, was well-received at SXSW and received a distribution deal with Magnolia Pictures. While "Drinking Buddies" comes out this summer, it's far from the last Swanberg movie that will screen in 2013: His Jane Adams-starring drama "All the Light in the Sky" comes out this fall, and he's currently editing two features, including the previously reported low budget production "24 Exposures." Additionally, Indiewire has exclusively learned that Swanberg shot another movie last December that, like "Drinking Buddies," unites several familiar faces for an intimate story. Tentatively called "Happy Christmas," the Chicago-set production reunites the filmmaker with Kendrick as well as "Girls" creator Lena Dunham, Melanie Lynskey and Mark Webber. Though these actors have some mainstream clout, they've all »

Good afternoon and happy April! Where does the time go?

Happy birthday to Trish Bendix’s dream girl Rachel Maddow, Bijou Phillips, Susan Boyle, Debbie Reynolds, Jane Adams and my perfect doggie Taffy Davenport McManus-Kregloe!

Trish posing with Rachel Maddow (before security pried her away.)

Like many young people growing up in the 1980s, I was obsessed with Princess Diana. Now I find out that in the late '80s Queen’s Freddie Mercury “disguised Princess Diana as a man and took her to notorious gay bar Royal Vauxhall Tavern. They were sure they were going to be discovered, but Mercury proved a major distraction, and Diana reportedly loved it.” After knowing this I can now die happy.

Evan Rachel Wood is so in demand as an actress that she’s starring in movies she even she doesn’t know about. »

Jean Smart replaces Jane Adams in NBC's Craig Robinson comedy pilot

24 March 2013 5:42 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

NBC is staying in the Jean Smart business. Following Jane Adams' ("Hung") exit from the network's untitled Craig Robinson comedy pilot following last week's table read, Smart has stepped in to fill the actress's shoes in the role of Jeannette, an "erratic, stressed-out" junior high school principal. Smart recently enjoyed an Emmy-nominated, seven-episode guest arc on NBC's now-defunct Kathy Bates drama "Harry's Law" in that series' second season. The single-camera sitcom, which centers on a "rough-edged" musician (Robinson) adjusting to his new job as a music teacher in a big-city middle school, comes from "Office" writers Greg Daniels and Owen Ellickson, »

Jane Adams Exits NBC’s Craig Robinson Pilot

21 March 2013 11:11 AM, PDT | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

Pilot season is brutal for actors as networks rush to cast some 100 pilots at the same time and then are as quick to recast roles. The latest case is former Hung star Jane Adams, an Emmy nominee for her role on the HBO comedy series, who signed on only a couple of days ago for NBC‘s single-camera comedy pilot starring Craig Robinson. She has now left after the table read. The untitled project centers on a talented musician Craig (Robinson) with rough edges who adjusts to his new life as a music teacher in a big-city middle school, where he encounters teacher politics and the temptations of single moms. Adams was to play Jeannette, an erratic, stressed-out junior high principal who’s constantly in damage-control mode. »

Spencer Grammer To Star In ‘Ironside’, Jane Adams Joins Craig Robinson Comedy

19 March 2013 12:18 PM, PDT | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

Greek alumna Spencer Grammer has landed the female lead opposite Blair Underwood in NBC’s drama pilot Ironside. The reboot of the 1967 series, written by Mike Caleo and directed by Peter Horton, centers on Robert T. Ironside (Underwood), a tough, sexy and acerbic police detective relegated to a wheelchair after a shooting who is hardly limited by his disability as he pushes and prods his hand-picked team to solve the most difficult cases. Grammer, repped by UTA and Untitled, will play Holly, who stands up to Ironside and everyone else and would be much higher up in the police department if she would distance herself from the criminals she grew up around. Former Hung star Jane Adams has been cast in another NBC pilot, the single-camera comedy starring Craig Robinson and executive produced by Greg Daniels and Owen Ellickson, who wrote the script. The untitled project centers on a talented »
