12 Monkeys Season 3: Coming to Syfy!!!

29 June 2016 2:02 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

There isn't even time travel involved with this fantastic news.

12 Monkeys has been renewed for a third season, as first reported by EW.

Hailing from executive producers Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, 12 Monkeys Season 2 is in the middle of one of the most creatively viable and incredibly emotional arcs its ever had.

With only two episodes remaining this season, it's wonderful of Syfy to give fans the freedom to really sit back and enjoy what lies ahead.

“Syfy and Ucp have been incredible creative partners, and I’m thrilled that we are going to tell the next — even more twisty and emotional — chapter of this time travel adventure,” Matalas told EW.

This season, a lot of the action has taken place in the future, a future in which protaganists and would-be love interests James Cole (Aaron Standford) and Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull) have been distant and at odds.

Today we have word that the filmmaker is actively casting for the iconic clown Pennywise, with one new contender entering the mix.

After Cary Fukunaga left the project, it wasn't clear if Will Poulter, who had already come aboard to play Pennywise, was staying on board or not. 19 April 2016 7:35 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

TV shows that were inspired by movies have a mixed track record. Some are cancelled quickly while others end up running for years. 12 Monkeys did well enough for Syfy to renew it for a second season but it wasn't a hit in the ratings. Will the numbers go up this time around or will they fall? Cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.

On 12 Monkeys, a virus has wiped out most of the world's population by the year 2043. One time traveler, James Cole (Aaron Stanford), must journey to 2015 to try to stop the Army of the 12 Monkeys from creating it. Other castmembers include Amanda Schull, Kirk Acevedo, Emily Hampshire, Barbara Sukowa, and Tom Noonan.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for »
