He was buried -- completely illegally, but in accordance with his expressed wishes -- at an unknown location in the Cabeza Prieta Desert, with no coffin, with a sleeping bag for a shroud, and with a funeral libation of whiskey poured over his body. His grave marker reads, "EDWARD PAUL ABBEY, 1927-1989. No Comment.". The location of his grave remains undisclosed. See more »
