Nishikant Kamat wants to do an original film

10 August 2015 8:11 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Not much has been changed in the Hindi remake of the Malayalam-Tamil-Kannada blockbuster Drishyam. Says director Nishikant Kamat, "I've retained a lot of the original. The biggest re-tweaking we did was in the playing time. While the original film is 3 hours long I've cut down Drishyam to just over 2 1/2 hours. The seaside location of the original is in Drishyam, though I've relocated the drama to Goa."

There are embellishments in the Hindi version of Drishyam. Says Nishikant, "I've also added things to the plot that were not there in the original. There is that whole sequence of Ajay Devgn in the Atm booth where he makes sure the CCTV captures him. Tabu's interval point entry was not there in the original."

The director is all praise for his actors. "Ajay was willing to completely surrender to play the middleclass family man. Not once did he demand a fight or stunt just to appease his fans. »

24 July 2015 6:08 AM, PDT | GlamSham | See recent GlamSham news »

The Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat starrer Bangistan is in the news for reasons more than one. Besides Bangistan being banned in Pakistan, it has also hit the headlines for getting postponed abruptly. Yes the Karan Anshuman directed film has been pushed ahead. The film that was scheduled to release on July 31st, 2015 will now hit the screens on 7th August. Riteish Deshmukh took to a micro-blogging site and confirmed, "Bangistan Now Releases On 7th August."

And we believe there are quite some reasons which must have induced the makers to take such an impromptu decision. Firstly, the trade is abuzz with the news that S. S. Rajamouli's blockbuster Baahubali and Salman Khan starrer super hit film Bajrangi Bhaijaan are still rocking at Bo. The two films have created unprecedented numbers and the audience still can't get over it.

Ajay Devgn, who promoted Drishyam with his co-actor Tabu at a radio station, answered on how excited he is for Drishyam and about no big clash with the movie by, "I don't know how big the opening of this movie will be. This is a word-of-mouth kind of film. I saw the film again yesterday, and even told Tabu that it is a mind-blowing film. So I am assured that no matter how the movie starts, it will do very well, because we don't have many songs or action to promote Drishyam. That's why it becomes difficult. But it's a fabulous film."

Here's why Ajay Devgn called his character in Drishyam 'Singham'

9 July 2015 4:28 AM, PDT | GlamSham | See recent GlamSham news »

Ajay Devgn is most remembered in the contemporary times for his comic role in Golmaal or as an honest, fealess police officer in Singham. But now tables have turned for him as Ajay Devgn plays a suspect to the police, portrayed by Tabu, in his upcoming movie Drishyam.

Ask Ajay Devgn about Drishyam and he says, "It is about human emotions. If one sees the film, then they will notice a conflict between me and Tabu. And that's what holds the film. We wanted Tabu to do the film because I think nobody else could have done this performance. People feel that Drishyam is a very mellow film. But it's not. It's about a character that I think is 'Singham' in his own way, who fights with his mind to save his family and surpass the police force."

Hindi cinema boasts of some iconic villains like Kanhaiyalal, Ajit, Amjad Khan, Amrish Puri Prem Chopra, Ranjeet, Danny, Shakti Kapoor and Gulshan Grover, to name a few, but the trend changed somewhat in the 70s-80s, where some of the top stars essayed characters having shades of grey. In case of ladies, there were the occasional Shashi Kalas and Lalita Pawars, but not many.

However, it was Urmila with Kaun, Kajol in Gupt, Priyanka via Aitraaz and Aishwarya in Khakee, who shocked and awed with brilliant negative portrayals. And one was forced to sit and admire such beautiful leading ladies going chillingly grey with a vengeance. But now one of the best actress of recent times Tabu has made it a habit.
