Then it was announced that the film would be an adaption of Hamlet, and on everyone’s mind was “we can’t wait to hear who will play the iconic role”. Titled Haider and also starring Tabu, Shraddha Kapur and Kay Kay Menon, the film is set to release in September.

According to Amar Butala, Creative Director, Studios, Disney Utv who are co-producing the film, Haider is a “Shakespearean interpretation set against the backdrop of militancy in Kashmir. First Look: Shahid Kapoor’s Haider

3 February 2014 5:01 AM, PST | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

One of the films that definitely made our list of movies to watch out for in 2014 is Shahid Kapoor’s Haider. Produced by Disney Utv Studios and produced and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film is Bhardwaj’s adaption of Shakesperare’s Hamlet. This is Bhardwaj’s third ode to Shakespeare’s plays: the first being Macbeth in the amazing Maqbool, then his brilliant Omkara, which was based on Othello.

Creative Director Disney Utv Studio – Amar Butala says, “Disney Utv Studios’ previous association with Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor delivered the cult box office hit Kaminay. The audiences have long awaited the next installment from this team, and in Haider we believe the audiences will find the wait was well worth it. With an incredible ensemble of actors including Tabu, Shraddha Kapur and Kay Kay Menon, this Shakespearean interpretation set against the backdrop of militancy in Kashmir, has some remarkable performances and great music. »

Film Review: ‘Jai Ho’

29 January 2014 11:49 AM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

One wasn’t expecting much more than headbanging cheap thrills from the new Bollywood action movie “Jai Ho,” in which Salman Khan, a.k.a. The Muscles from Mumbai (that sobriquet is our own invention), carries to a new level of slapdash vulgarity the blunt-force, post-”Matrix” style of action moviemaking that rules the roost now in Hindi cinema. When you set your sites that low, and still emerge disappointed two-and-a-half-hours later, that’s a sad day at the movies. Because Salman Khan is one the fabled Three Khans, Bollywood’s top film stars for over two decades, the earnings of “Jai Ho” are being measured against the recent huge hits of Shah Rukh Khan (“Chennai Express”) and Aamir Khan (“Dhoom 3″). At $3.5 million for its first two days of domestic release, about half what those record-breaking pics pulled in, “Jai Ho” is so far considered only an “average” hit.

Jai Ho Movie Review

26 January 2014 6:25 AM, PST | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Take any day in your life that you wish you had a helping hand. A day you may have forgotten your wallet, when you needed to pay for your bus ticket. A day your car broke down, when you had to go to an interview. What if a stranger gave you that helping hand? No questions asked and in return, didn’t ask for money or a favour. Just that you help another when the chance came to you. Would you? Jai Ho shows us how a common man that left his army life, takes on the fight to help humanity, and for a bit of masala, bashes a few bad guys along the way.

Based on the concept from Pay It Forward (2000), A. R. Murugadoss’ designed the power packed story for his film Stalin (2006). Being the remake season that it was (or is) the film’s bumper success made »

'Jai Ho' - Jai Ho, Salman! (Ians Movie Review, Rating: ****)

23 January 2014 11:46 PM, PST | RealBollywood.com | See recent RealBollywood news »

Film: "Jai Ho"; Cast: Salman Khan, Tabu, Danny Denzongpa and Mohnish Behl; Director: Sohail Khan; Rating: ****

We really can't judge a Salman Khan-starrer by normal yardsticks. If this film starred another superstar, it would be evaluated from another perspective.

But Salman is...Salman! He doesn't desire nor seek anyone's approval. The characters he plays also display the same level of arrogant self-worth. When he roars against corruption, the Dolby sound quivers in approval.

Say welcome to the uncommon common man. He is tough, he is gutsy. And he doesn't believe in common courtesy. He delivers a mean punch when required. But at home he's just your regular guy snuggling up to his plump super-mom, confiding in his. »

Salman’s Photocopy tweaked the last minute!

17 January 2014 7:31 AM, PST | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Coming up next Friday, is Jai Ho starring Salman Khan and fans cannot wait to see this film on the big screen! The music videos have also been a huge hit with fans, especially ‘Photocopy’ and we have some cool scoop to reveal! Little does anyone know but the song was tweaked at the nth hour.

Earlier, the song had the brand name Xerox embedded in a line instead of the word photocopy, but that had to be changed. Here’s the story….

Sources share that the makers strongly wanted to use Xerox as the word has more of a recall value. However, the lengthy process to get permission since it is a brand name kept them at bay. The makers asked for permission from the Xerox to use the word in the song, but it was a long process to get the required permissions and formalities in place. That »
