The drama will now open on Thanksgiving weekend, where it will debut against Red Dawn, Parental Guidance, Rise of the Guardians, and The Silver Linings Playbook.

Oscar-winning director Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) is very much well known for being something of a visionary. His latest project will be bringing us an adaptation of Yann Martel’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel, Life of Pi, and with its release coming in the final weeks of the year, there’s already Oscar buzz surrounding the film.
Of course it’s still early days yet, but with a somewhat awesome first image now surfacing online, it’s not difficult to see why it might be a contender.
Suraj Sharma will be making his acting debut as the eponymous Pi, with the rest of the cast including the likes of Tabu (The Namesake), Irrfan Khan (The Amazing Spider-Man), Adil Hussain (Agent Vinod), Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man), and Gérard Depardieu (Mesrine).

Today we have the first photo from Ang Lee's "Life of Pi," which is based on a 2001 novel by Yann Martel that had such filmmakers as M Night Shyamalan and Alfonso Cuaron in talks to bring it to the big screen. The story revolves around Pi Patel, the teenaged son of a zookeeper. He and his family board a ship headed toward North America, but a wreck leaves Pi stranded in a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Pi is playing by newcomer Suraj Sharma, who beat out three thousand actors for the role. He's joined by Irrfan Khan as the grown-up Pi, Adil Hussain and Tabu as Pi's parents, Gerard Depardieu as "The Chef" and Tobey Maguire as Yann Martel. It's set to hit theaters on December 21st. Leave it to Ang Lee to make a movie about a kid stranded on a lifeboat with a bunch of zoo animals, including one ferocious, hungry 450 lb Bengal tiger. But that’s what the director of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” has done with “The Life of Pi”, an adaptation of the hard-to-adapt book by Yann Martel. Here’s your first look at the 3D movie, featuring star Suraj Sharma and his pet tiger. The tiger, along with all the animals in the movie, are supposed to be CG. Yes, that’s a CG tiger right there. I guess it would be kind of hard to make a real tiger “act” on a boat. He might get, you know, frustrated, and you probably don’t want a 450 lb Bengal tiger getting “frustrated” around you. It co-stars Tobey Maguire, Gérard Depardieu, Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Adil Hussain, and Ayush Tandon. The story of »

Just what happens to creativity when it comes to titles? From ongoing TV soaps like .Kuch Toh Log Kahenge. and .Bade Acche Lagte Hain. to the forthcoming .Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuuch Kaha. and .Kya Hua Tera Vaada., it appears that authors expend all their energy in writing scripts and fall back on well-loved film songs for titles.Clearly, Hindi movie songs down the ages are the easy inspiration for a host of television serials with the makers also hoping for instant connect..Kuch Toh Log Kahenge., a hit song picturised on Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna in .Amar Prem., is now the the title of Indian adaptation of the popular Pakistani serial .Dhoop Kinare.. Mohnish Behl and Kritika Kamra are the protagonists in the love story of a 40-plus guy and a 20-something girl. The title of Ekta Kapoor.s .Bade Acche Lagte Hain. is picked up from »
