After several strong global releases this year, including Kick with Salman Khan, Bang Bang with Hrithik Roshan and Happy New Year with Shah Rukh Khan, Bollywood served up Aamir Khan in comedy/drama Pk this weekend (see trailer above). Going out day-and-date in 22 markets including India, North America and the UK, it released on about 5,000 screens at home and more than 800 overseas. The total take excluding North America was $22.13M for the frame, says distributor Utv. An estimated $3.46M debut at 272 locations in North America will see it score the biggest Bollywood opening of all time if the numbers hold when the actuals come in this week — it’s that close. The one to beat is 2013’s Dhoom 3 which bowed to $3.44M last December — and also starred Aamir Khan. Sonakshi Sinha is on a Flite to success. Ever since she was launched by Salman Khan, the Patna Phuljari is flying by leaps and bounds. And now becomes the first actress to have a jingle composed in her name.
The jingle begins with Hey Sonakshi…and asks her about her fresh appeal and definitely the raaz behind it.. Sonakshi was at her element, dancing and swinging away in all her glory.
Since it was a sandal brand that she was shooting for, the Tevar actress revealed that comfort wins hands down when it comes to her feet and that for the first time, she did not slip into her own shoes in between takes.
With over a 100 pairs of sandals in her shoe wardrobe, in almost every colour, Sonakshi felt at home in endorsing the product.

The 1st frame cume is now $122.2M with 3D results accounting for 71% of the box office total. Increases in key overseas markets have been updated below. Expanded Hobbit holiday cheer will flow next weekend in North America, Italy, Spain and Korea. On the flipside, Exodus: Gods And Kings came in slightly lower in its cume, which is $18.2M versus an estimated $18.8M on Sunday. Nikhil Advani’s Hero, a contemporary remake of Subhash Ghai’s classic of the same name, is scheduled for release in summer 2015. Co-produced by Salman Khan Films and Ghai’s Mukta Arts, the film is launching two new actors – Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty.

International recording artist and actress Priyanka Chopra recently attended the wedding of Salman Khan’ sister Arpita Khan. The actress and Salman have worked in many films together like Mujhse Shaddi Karogi and Salaam-e-Ishq. As per a source, at Arpita Khan’s wedding Salman and Priyanka danced on their hit numbers like ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, ‘Lal Duppata’, ‘Saalam-e-Ishq’ and many others. Also present on the stage was Aamir Khan.
The actress also read Arpita’s wedding note for the family when the bride became emotional and couldn’t read further.

On Wednesday night New York's prestigious Columbia University played host to Vishal Bhardwaj's Haider. The film was watched in rapt attention by over 2,000 students including a majority from America. The screening was followed by a definitive incisive and exhaustive interactive session helmed by the Haider writer Basharat Peer who is a former student of Columbia University. Interestingly, the guest of honour at the screening was eminent litterateur Salman Rushdie. Rushdie is himself of Kashmiri origin. I thought it would be interesting to know his opinion on Haider. When contacted Salman Rushdie said, "I liked the film and thought it used 'Hamlet' very well to illuminate Kashmir." It was Tabu's performance that enthralled Rushdie.
