Star-Crossed’s Greg Finley cast as Girder in The Flash

20 August 2014 11:45 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Back at the start of this month it was revealed that the DC villain Tony Woodward – a.k.a. Girder – would be making an appearance in The CW’s Arrow spin-off The Flash, and now Zap2It is reporting that Greg Finley (Star-Crossed, The Secret Life of the American Teenager) has secured the role of the Rogue.

According to the site, the S.T.A.R. Labs explosion that sees Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) gaining his powers also results in Woodward finding himself “with the ability to transform his skin into living metal. In the guise of Girder, Tony then goes on a crime spree that only Barry Allen may be able to stop. The connection between the two men doesn’t stop there, however. Back when they were kids, Tony was the bully who used to torment Barry.”

Grant Gustin suits up in new countdown image for The Flash

17 August 2014 2:02 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

We’re now 52 days away from the premiere of The Flash on the CW, a number that’s very near and dear to the folks over at DC Comics. In fact, they named their gigantic company-wide relaunch in 2011 “The New 52.” To celebrate the occasion, The CW released a new official image of series star Grant Gustin in costume as the titular scarlet speedster on Twitter…

This is a great shot of the costume (much better than the first, poorly Photoshopped images we got a few months back), that shows off a nice, clean look at Gustin as Barry Allen, as well as some of the detail of the Flash suit. As you can see, despite a few small touches and a leather material, the design itself is pretty close to the iconic comic book design.

What do you think of this shot of Gustin as the Flash? Are you a fan of the costume? »

27 July 2014 2:15 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Those of you lucky enough to see pilot for the CW’s upcoming series The Flash may have noticed a little easter egg pertaining to one of the scarlet speedster’s most beloved and outlandish villains: Gorilla Grodd. Well, according to DC Chief Creative Officer and The Flash executive producer Geoff Johns, that wasn’t an accident.

During the massive Warner Bros./DC Television panel at San Diego Comic-Con late Saturday night, Johns himself said,

“You will see Grodd. That cage is not a mistake.”

Now that’s not much to go on, but it is confirmation from Johns himself, so somehow, somewhere down the line, Gorilla Grodd will show up. How they’ll pull off a hyper-intelligent, super-strong, telepathic gorilla on a TV budget remains to be seen, but based on the effects they’ve been able to pull off for the Flash himself, anything is possible.
