Riot: TV Show Cancelled by Fox

12 June 2014 5:55 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Fox has cancelled Riot, their new comedy improv series, after four episodes.

Hosted by Rove McManus, Riot is an unscripted show that pairs guest celebrities with a group of regular players for comedy song, dance, and sketch challenges. The regulars are John Ross Bowie, Jamie Denbo, Brian Palermo, Jordan Black, Jessica McKenna, Meryl Hathaway and Rob Gleeson.

The show debuted in mid-May to a dismal 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.34 million viewers. The numbers have gone up and down since then but have all been terrible.

The network has pulled the show from the schedule effective immediately, along with I Wanna Marry "Harry". The four remaining episodes may surface at some point in the future but there are currently no plans. Reruns of Fox comedies will fill the timeslot for the time being.

Riot: Season One Ratings

Fox is hoping that viewers find their new Riot TV series to be hilarious so that they keep watching each week. However, television is a serious business and it's the ratings that matter. Will Riot be a ratings success and be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.

The higher a show's ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better its chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- typically the following morning, around 11:30am Est/8:30am Pst. Refresh to see the latest.

'Riot': Steve Carell and cast on the new improv game show that's taking comedy to the extreme

I think it’s safe to say that Steve Carell is a master of physical comedy. This is the man who famously once waxed his chest hair on the big screen. So it makes sense that The Office star is an executive producer and one of the first celebrity guests on Riot, a new extreme game show premiering tonight on Fox.

“I have no idea what I’m getting myself into,” Carell jokingly told EW before filming alongside his Office co-star Andy Buckley. The show is based on the international hit franchise Slide Show and puts two teams of celebrities »
