Blu-ray Review: Bell, Book, And Candle (Twilight Time)

This film may not exactly be the Twitchiest title on the market, but it gave me so much joy, that I just have to share. Richard Quine's Bell, Book, and Candle is a late '50s gem from Columbia Pictures with an ace cast, a fantastic whirlwind of a story, and some really great laughs, the likes of which we rarely see anymore. Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak headline a great film than more consistently induces ear to ear grins than almost anything I've watched lately, and Twilight Time's Blu-ray presentation is top notch. Recognizing Women in Horror Year Round

February was Women in Horror Recognition Month and there are plenty of women that we recognize in horror year round.

Consider the “Scream Queens” we all know and love—Michelle Bauer, Janet Leigh, Jamie Lee Curtis, Linnea Quigley, Marilyn Burns, Elsa Lanchester, Brinke Stevens, Camille Keaton, Sybil Danning, Ingrid Pitt, Barbara Steele, Fay Wray, and Beverly Garland.

But there are countless other women, actresses, writers, directors, who you may not know and don’t get proper recognition.

Here's a short list of some female directors that deserve to be mentioned.

Universal Pictures Celebrates 100th Anniversary with Restoration of 13 Classic Films

Universal will mark its 100th anniversary in 2012, and will commemorate its centennial with a yearlong celebration honoring the studio's rich film history and cultural legacy. The campaign draws its inspiration from Universal's extraordinary and diverse library of films, many of which will be highlighted throughout the year, and is designed to engage fans of all ages in the art of moviemaking.

A significant element of the centennial includes the extensive restoration of 13 of the studio's most beloved titles such as To Kill a Mockingbird, All Quiet on the Western Front, Jaws, The Sting, Out of Africa, Frankenstein and Schindler's List.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment will kick off the celebration in January with a special 50th anniversary release of To Kill a Mockingbird, debuting on Blu-ray for the first time ever.
