The International Cinematographers Guild (Icg) held a celebratory luncheon at the Asc clubhouse today to showcase the winners of the 2013 Emerging Cinematographers Awards. Those honorees will have their work screened during a special ceremony at the DGA Theater on Sunday night. Friday, the guild took a few moments to honor four more experienced gentlemen for their contribution to the cinematic arts at the American Society of Cinematographers Clubhouse in Hollywood. The Canon Award for the advancement of digital technology in film and television will be presented to Mark Weingartner.

Mark Weingartner will receive the Canon Award for the advancement of digital technology in film and television at a lunch organized by the International Cinematographers Guild on September 27.

Kristopher Tapley will receive the Technicolor William A Fraker Award for outstanding journalistic contributions to the art and craft of cinematography.

The Kodak Mentorship Award will honour Julio Macat, Asc and the Nat Tiffen Award for outstanding educational contributions to the art and craft of cinematography will go to Corey Carbonara. »

Cinematographers Guild Will Salute Four With Emerging Awards

The International Cinematographers Guild has named four special award winners as part of the its 17th Emerging Cinematographer Awards.

Mark Weingartner, Julio Macat, Asc, Dr. Corey Carbonara and Kristopher Tapley will be honored for contributions to cinematographic arts at a luncheon Sept. 27.

Weingartner, chairman of the Icg National Training Committee and a director of photography, visual effects supervisor and stereographer, will receive the Canon Award for advancement of digital technology in film and television.

The Kodak Mentorship Award will go to Macat, who recently mentored students at Pepperdine U., the AFI, Nyu, Chapman College and Scottsdale Community College and taught a seminar at Disney Animation. He’s shot several high-grossing films, including his first hit, “Home Alone.”
