Raymond Scott (I) (1908–1994)

Scott, prolific composer, inventor, and performer, is most famous for something he didn't do - his songs were used by Carl W. Stalling as the basis for many of his soundtracks for classic Warner Brother cartoons. Scott's "Powerhouse" can be heard during shots of conveyor belts, machines, and other moving parts in dozens of these classic cartoons. ... See full bio »

Personal Quote:

Perhaps within the next hundred years, science will perfect a process of thought transference from composer to listener. The composer will sit alone on the concert stage and merely 'think' his idealized conception of his music. Instead of recordings of actual music sound, recordings will carry the brainwaves of the composer directly to the mind of the listener. See more »

Inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1994. See more »
