In 1973, he wrote the music for an unsold television pilot based on his TV movie "The 500 Pound Jerk". The comedy included scenes from the telefilm as well as new footage which told the story of the American weightlifter and the Russian gymnast adjust to life in the U.S. following the Olympics.
