Katherine Heigl will give fans a look at an entirely new and dark side in the upcoming "State of Affairs."

The actress, best known for "Grey's Anatomy" and numerous big screen rom-coms, plays CIA officer Charlie Savas who is tasked with finding the terrorists who killed her fiance, a man who also happened to be the President's son.

"I play the briefer to the President, so I am bringing her information everyday about what is going on in the world," the actress told Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson during a visit to set.

'Annabelle' TV Spot Brings 'The Conjuring' Doll to Suburbia

12 September 2014 6:19 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Every evil has an origin in the new TV spot for Warner Bros.' Annabelle, following the second trailer released last month. This haunted doll was first seen in last year's thriller The Conjuring, with this spin-off giving Annabelle a proper origin story.

Ward Horton stars as John Form, who picks up the doll as a gift for his expectant wife Mia (Annabelle Wallis). Little do they know the terror that awaits them, as strange things start to happen at home when Annabelle first arrives. Their nightmare only gets worse when the Form home is invaded by a satanic cult. Check out the latest footage before director John R. Leonetti's thriller hits theaters October 3.

Annabelle TV Spot Packs a Ton of Scares Despite a Brief Runtime

12 September 2014 5:42 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

On the heels of a teaser trailer and a more plot-heavy full trailer, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line have released a TV Spot for The Conjuring spinoff, Annabelle.  So far this movie looks pretty good to me.  There's no way it can top The Conjuring, it just doesn't have the time, resources and cast that film did (nor does it have James Wan directing), but it could be a great diversion nonetheless. Director John R. Leonetti shot The Conjuring (and a ton of other Wan films) so he was able to learn from the current master of the genre. At the very least, the film will have a lot of creepy imagery and jump scares.  And who knows, maybe we end up with another smash?  Hit the jump to check out the new Annabelle TV Spot.  The film stars Annabelle WallisAlfre WoodardWard HortonTony AmendolaEric Ladin and Brian Howe, »

Interview: John Sayles Tells S&A About 'Go For Sisters,' the Future of Indie Film, and 5 Historical Projects That Should Come to the Small Screen

12 September 2014 1:05 PM, PDT | ShadowAndAct | See recent ShadowAndAct news »

Now on DVD and VOD, indie thriller "Go For Sisters" is the 18th feature from noted independent filmmaker John Sayles. The film stars LisaGay Hamilton and Yolonda Ross as a pair of estranged childhood friends who team up on a journey across the Mexican border to find a missing son. Sayles is one of those writer-directors that other artists rave about, and who's been mentioned frequently in our interviews with Alfre Woodard, Joe Morton, Reggie Rock Bythewood and others, so it was good to finally speak with him one on one to talk more about "Go For Sisters," new projects the he hopes to get made, and other insights from his prolific career. Katherine Heigl was confronted by an entertainment journalist about reports that she is “difficult to work with” in July, and the “State of Affairs” star addressed the awkward question this week by citing a quote from co-star Alfre Woodard. “Alfre just took my mom's face in her hands and went ‘Read my lips: F–k those assholes!'” Heigl told Entertainment Weekly. “And it's Alfre, so you believe her.” See video: Watch Trailers for NBC's New Shows: Katherine Heigl's ‘State of Affairs,’ Kate Walsh's ‘Bad Judge,’ More Heigl returns to television this fall for the first time since leaving “Grey's Anatomy. »

'State of Affairs' star Katherine Heigl has three words for her haters

11 September 2014 9:26 AM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Katherine Heigl kind of disappeared for a while. She was busy raising two kids, loving on rescue dogs, and starring in the occasional ensemble movie or sleep aid commercial. This fall, she returns in a big way with the NBC drama State of Affairs, playing a hardened CIA analyst tasked with keeping the President (played with great steeliness by Alfre Woodard) informed of the most pressing threats to national security.

While Heigl might have been lying low the last several years, stories of her supposedly bad reputation took flight. Rumors of her “difficult nature”—a phrase, by the way, that »

New Trailers for Annabelle and Nightcrawler

21 August 2014 2:57 PM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

The Conjuring kicked off with a very effective (and very frightening) scene which featured a doll called Annabelle. In it we saw the sinister doll terrorise two nursing students, and after a pretty vague first teaser for a movie focusing on her, this new trailer sheds some light on what we should expect from the spin-off.

Based on what we see here, director John R. Leonetti (who served as a Dp on The Conjuring) appears to have brought a similar aesthetic to Annabelle, not to mention the same type of scares and tension fraught moments. The cast meanwhile is made up of lesser known actors like Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, and Alfre Woodard.

Warner Bros. will release Annabelle on October 3rd, 2014 and The Conjuring 2 is set for October 23rd, 2015.

We also have the latest trailer for Nightcrawler. In the movie, Jake Gyllenhaal plays Lou Bloom, an La crime journalist who »
