Spike Lee on His New Michael Jackson Doc and Going After MTV

28 January 2016 8:14 AM, PST | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

There's a moment about one-third of the way through Spike Lee's new documentary Michael Jackson's Journey From Motown to Off the Wall in which the Jackson estate's archivist pulls out a yellowed, frayed letter and reads aloud. Written after Michael and his brothers, collectively known as the Jackson 5, had left Motown and were recording under the name the Jacksons, the future King of Pop is jotting down various aspirational goals: He wants to get into the movies, he wants to explore all musical styles and directions, he wants »

20 years ago today: Julia Roberts, Jcvd, and many more guest-starred on ‘Friends’

28 January 2016 6:00 AM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

20 years ago today, NBC aired “The One After the Superbowl,” the mega-episode of “Friends” packed with famous guest stars. The two-part episode had a massive lead-in from the Cowboys vs. Steelers game, even more than usual for post-Super Bowl programming — that game broke the record for most-watched sporting event ever on American television. The star-studded lineup of visitors to “Friends” was: Julia Roberts, Brooke Shields, Chris Isaak, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Fred Willard, and Dan Castellaneta. Roberts played Susie, Chandler’s elementary school classmate. Chandler eagerly agrees to go on a date with her, only to find out that the date was part of Susie’s plot for revenge to get back at Chandler for a prank he played on her in the 4th grade. “That was in the 4th grade! How could you still be upset about that?” Chandler exclaimed upon realizing what this was all about — as he stood »

Review: 'Michael Jackson's Journey From Motown to Off the Wall' Makes You Want to Dance — and Shout

24 January 2016 3:00 PM, PST | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

What is Lee Daniels doing here? In a 93-minute feature film packed with everyone from Michael Jackson's relatives to recording engineers who worked on only one of his albums, the co-creator of "Empire" is the only talking head unable to justify his time on screen. And considering the likes of Kobe Bryant, Stevie Wonder, Joel Schumacher and even Spike Lee (unable to stay behind the camera in his own film) make memorable appearances, his inexplicable inclusion speaks to what's really, overall, a focused effort with honed storytelling, dedicated to a very specific time period in Jackson's fascinating life. Today, she offers more proof with a cover of Kendrick Lamar's devastating "No Makeup" from Section.80, pegged to the Grammys (they're both nominated). WWE Raw Review: 10 Big Talking Points (Jan 18)

19 January 2016 2:55 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

So here we are at the final Raw before the 2016 Royal Rumble and, aside from the Rumble match itself, we only have two other matches announced for the event. While I understand that WWE doesn’t have to sell pay-per-views anymore, it would be nice to have an undercard with some build in order to drum up interest in something other than the 30 man battle royal.

Hopefully, WWE remembers the last two Royal Rumble events where the crowds viciously turned on the event, booing both Batista and Roman Reigns out of the building once Daniel Bryan had been eliminated. With the crowds slowly embracing Roman Reigns as a top-level guy, WWE would be wise to not swerve their fans and hand the title to a returning Triple H. Although, knowing this company, that is exactly what they will do because apparently upsetting your entire fanbase = ratings.

While the Golden Globe Awards were definitely one to remember this year, sometimes the best moments of the night come from the insane amount of afterparties! On Sunday, stars headed to a series of bashes in La to celebrate, including The Weinstein Company and Netflix's annual afterparty sponsored by Lindt Lindor. We were inside the exclusive celebration where Kate Bosworth, Cate Blanchett, Chanel Iman, and other big names all made appearances - and where Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom appeared to strike up a new romance. We spotted Jamie Foxx and his daughter, Miss Golden Globe Corinne Foxx, posing for selfies with fans as Morgan Freeman cut loose and danced to Stevie Wonder. There was even a Champagne vending machine on site dispensing mini bottles of Moët & Chandon for guests who needed a break from the dance floor.
