NAACP Image Awards: Insecure and Queen Sugar Lead TV Nominees
Own’s Queen Sugar scored eight total nominations for the 49th NAACP Image Awards, leading the TV drama pack.

On the comedy side, HBO’s Insecure also netted eight nods, while creator and star Issa Rae by herself amassed four (including two for writing and one as an Entertainer of the Year contender). Only Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z earned more individual noms, with five each.

Fox’s Empire and ABC’s black-ish each netted six nominations.

Crazy Fun Trailer for Action Comedy Spy Show Film 'Espionage Tonight'

"We'll send you on missions - and then you guide us through your adventure." The Orchard has launched a trailer for a film titled Espionage Tonight, which we've never heard of before now. This action-comedy satire is about a reality show that is created about spies, following them on real missions and broadcasting it. The ensemble cast includes Joe Hursley, Saïd Taghmaoui, Sean Astin and Lynn Whitfield. The trailer gives a quick introduction to the plot, and then the rest plays out almost like a twisted reality TV show, or something. This actually looks cooler than expected, but perhaps a bit too wacky. Honestly I'm not really sure what to make of it. But I might want to watch it sometime to see if it's any good. Action-Comedy Satire ‘Espionage Tonight’ Picked up by The Orchard (Exclusive)
The Orchard has acquired worldwide rights to the action-comedy satire “Espionage Tonight,” starring an ensemble cast including Joe Hursley, Saïd Taghmaoui, Sean Astin and Lynn Whitfield.

The film premiered earlier this month at the 2017 Dances with Films Festival in Los Angeles. The Orchard is planning for on digital and on demand releases in North America on Oct. 24.

Espionage Tonight” is directed by Rob Gordon Bralver from his own script. His credits include “Our Vinyl Weights A Ton” and serving as editor of “Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia.”

Espionage Tonight” centers on a TV reality show created by the U.S. government in which real world spies compete in undercover missions around the world with the lines between reality, propaganda and fiction blurring.

Amy Child is the producer. The ensemble cast includes Greg Davis, Jr., Alexie Gilmore, Ganna Bogdan, Fernanda Romero, Chasty Ballesteros and Joseph Gatt.

Filmmaker Rob Bralver (best known for his editing work on “Gore Vidal: The United States of America”) turns his attentions to a different side of filmmaking with his feature narrative debut, “Espionage Tonight,” bound for a world premiere at Dances With Films next week.
