'Continuum': Everything You Need To Know About The Sci-Fi Cop Show

25 May 2012 11:19 AM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

I'm standing in a drab, monochromatic police department TV set in Vancouver that could quite feasibly serve as the base for any number of procedural police dramas on the air right now. Except this particular police show has something none of the others do: a foxy cop from the future. Yes, the cop and sci-fi genres have been melded together for the hot new summer show "Continuum," set to debut on Showcase this week.

The show follows Keira Cameron (Rachel Nichols, "Criminal Minds"), an officer with the Vancouver City Protective Services (Cps). We first meet Keira in 2077, when she's a regular "protector," wife and mother going about her business. When she's placed on guard duty during a mass execution of seven terrorists, she's jolted 65 years into the past when the prisoners deploy a high-tech, time-travel escape. She's disoriented -- to say the least -- when she finds herself in the »

Our favorite onscreen male strippers, from Chris Farley to Danny DeVito -- Video

17 May 2012 1:40 PM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

In case you hadn’t noticed, EW is just a little excited about Magic Mike, the upcoming male stripper movie in which Channing Tatum finally takes off his shirt. While exotic lady dancers have been baring it all on film since before Edison invented the Kinetoscope, their Y-chromosome counterparts haven’t had nearly as much onscreen exposure.

We’re tempted to call Magic Mike an important, pioneering movie about naked dudes — but it’s not the first to shatter Hollywood’s onscreen stripper glass ceiling. Tatum and his costars are pelvic thrusting on the shoulders of giants who are also doing pelvic thrusts. »

Blood & Chrome and general updates

28 March 2012 6:54 PM, PDT | CapricaTV | See recent CapricaTV news »

Eventful week. To play catch-up:

The big news that every site reported in a slightly different way is that Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome will be a digital series and a TV film, but not a TV show, at least not one produced by Syfy/Universal Cable Prods. You have probably read the Deadline article by now.

With the possibility that Universal may still shop B&C around, it doesn't sound like they have any immediate plans to make more of it beyond the existing pilot/web series/Mow.

No word yet on a release date, but Battlestar Wiki reports that we'll be seeing Blood & Chrome as a web series first and then as a TV movie.

Doug Drexler posted this the other day (full post at the link):

If sets had been built for this show, it would have cost 6 million easily, instead of only the 2 million it did cost, »

McG keen to see Henry Cavill's Superman, had cast Robert Downey Jr as Lex Luthor in his own version

29 February 2012 3:25 PM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Superman returns to the big screen in June 2013 and filmmaker McG, whose own movie featuring the DC hero was scrapped, says he is looking forward to seeing Henry Cavill take on the role in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.

McG had also wanted Cavill for his own unmade project, Superman: Flyby, which was in development between 2002 and 2004 with a script by Jj Abrams. After it was shelved, Bryan Singer stepped in and began work on 2006's Superman Returns.

McG, whose action comedy This Means War hits cinemas on March 2, told Digital Spy: "I did indeed cast Henry Cavill [as Superman]. He's a fantastic actor, he's very, very strong and he's wonderful.

"I think Zack Snyder's going to do a great job with Henry Cavill. I can't wait to see that picture."

He added: "I'm heartbroken that I never made my Superman, but it was my own f**k-up because I »

The Scorpion King 3 DVD Review

22 February 2012 9:40 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Director: Roel Reiné

Cast: Victor Webster, Bostin Christopher, Billy Zane, Ron Perlman, Krystal Vee

Certificate: 12A

Running Time: 104 minutes

Synopsis: Warrior Mathayus is dispatched by King Horus to protect ally King Ramusan from imminent attack. In return for his services, he is promised Ramusan’s daughter Silda in marriage. But to collect his reward, he will have to rescue the princess from the scheming Talus.

Having never seen the first two films in The Scorpion King trilogy, I may not have been the most qualified to review The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption. However, after voluntarily sitting through such straight-to-dvd ‘classics’ as Invisible Mom and Space Buddies I certainly know crap when I see it, and The Scorpion King 3 has it by the bucket load.

Originally portrayed by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, then re-cast and played by Michael Copon in the 2008 prequel, warrior Mathayus is now Samatha’s neighbour »

Check Out Slick New Short Film Project: S.E.R.A.

18 February 2012 11:00 PM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

When it comes to making zombies, it always seems so much worse when mindless raving berserkers are created by government tomfoolery. Project: S.E.R.A. doesn't feature zombies in the traditional sense, but this version of the undead monster could be worse.

Written and directed by Benjamin Howdeshell, Project: S.E.R.A. stars Julia Voth (Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil video games, Bitch Slap), Victor Webster (Scorpion King III, Mutant X) and Dennis Keiffer (stunt actor from GI Joe, Superman, Green Hornet) interwoven into some back alley dealings that have a decorated United States general being treated less than regally and eventually zombified.

The film is shot beautifully with some great action and kick-ass F/X work. For more info be sure to "like" Project: S.E.R.A. on Facebook and follow @ProjectSera on Twitter. Check it out!

Uncover Ben Howdeshell’s Zombie Short Film Project Sera

17 February 2012 10:07 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

It’s hard not to think “Resident Evil” when you add gun-toting babe to any zombie movie. The fact that star Julia Voth (one of the three lovely ladies of “Bitch Slap”) looks like one of the gun-happy ladies of the “Resident Evil” movie franchise on the film’s poster sure doesn’t hurt. Or was that the point? (Also, Voth has previously provided the voice of Jill Valentine in the 2002 “Resident Evil” game, so there’s that, too.) But don’t let that stop you from enjoying Ben Howdeshell’s 10-minute short film “Project Sera”, which features one of those fast-moving “infected” zombies that are so popular nowadays. The idea, apparently, is to make the short film, gin up some interest, and turn it into a feature-length movie. A young woman wakes up in an abandoned warehouse as armed soldiers torture her father with an experimental biological weapon. Besides Voth, »

Watch the Gorgeous Julia Voth Kick Ass in 'Project: S.E.R.A.'

15 February 2012 5:30 PM, PST | FEARnet | See recent FEARnet news »

Julia Voth may be one of the best-kept secrets in geekdom today. But after watching the fetching actress play Jill Valentine in the Resident Evil video games and deliver a fun, sexy performance in the recent grindhouse-style free-for-all Bitch Slap, I'd happily pay money just to watch Voth read the phone book. Fortunately, the new short film Project: S.E.R.A. has her doing a lot more than that, and you can watch it now -- right after the jump.  Written and directed by Benjamin Howdeshell, Project: S.E.R.A. stars Julia Voth, Victor Webster (Scorpion King III, Mutant X), and Dennis Keiffer (stunt actor in G.I. Joe, Superman, Green Hornet). And it certainly looks as good as most of today's action features. So »

Madonna has largely been out of the public eye for a few years, but with her movie W.E. premiering, a new album, and a Super Bowl half time show, she seems ready to take her rightful place as the center of pop culture.
