Actress Anna Faris honed her skills as a funnywoman following inspirational advice from Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans.
The actress appeared in all five films in the comedy franchise and insists she felt more at ease in humorous roles after Ivory Wayans advised her to release her inhibitions when performing on set.
Faris tells V's Americana Issue, "He gave me the most valuable advice. He said: 'There's no vanity in comedy.' And that was such a liberating thought. I cling to that idea."
The star, who plays a hippie food shop owner in British writer and actor Sacha Baron Cohen's upcoming release The Dictator, recalled Ivory Wayans' wise words to calm her nerves when making the movie.
She says, "I've been a part of some crazy movies, but never something quite like this. Sacha is an insane genius. It's exciting to be around him, but also terrifying. You really don't know what he's going to do." »

Also, CBS' vehicle for Pee-wee Herman (alias Paul Reubens), "Pee-wee's Playhouse," lands the Pop Culture Award; Keenen Ivory Wayans' Fox sketch comedy "In Living Color, »

Tonight, TV Land is airing the 10th Anniversary TV Land Awards where Fox’s In Living Color is recognized with the Groundbreaking Award. But you wouldn’t know from it that Damon Wayans was a part of the iconic sketch comedy series. There were two members of In Living Color‘s core cast who were no-shows at the TV Land Awards ceremony, which took place on April 14 in New York: Jamie Foxx and Damon Wayans. Foxx couldn’t attend because he has been in New Orleans filming Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, in which he plays the title role. The absence of Wayans, who told organizers he was unavailable, was more puzzling. Wayans, who is credited as co-creator of In Living Color with his brother Keenen Ivory Wayans, was a key In Living Color writer-performer, who played some of the show’s most memorable characters. This clever meta-horror asks what human need is fed by seeing hot youths get slaughtered, but it forgets to be properly scary
In Keenen Ivory Wayans's Scary Movie, from 2000, a fleeing character is famously offered two directional options by the masked figure: safety or death. The joke is that there is no choice. No matter how cynical and wised-up everyone is about the horror film and all its various tropes, the genre triumphantly survives, to a great extent by playfully absorbing that cynicism and feeding it back to the fanbase. Drew Goddard plays on this postmodern connoisseurship in this meta-chiller, The Cabin in the Woods, co-written with Joss Whedon. The poster shows the cabin in question floating in the air, tricksily twisting in sections like a Rubik's cube.
It's an affectionately satirical nightmare that asks why horror is so potent: what awful human need is being fed by seeing »

First revealed publicly last October, the Fox Network is bringing the Wayans' In Living Color back to TV as a mid-season replacement, with the original star and creator of the show, Keenen Ivory Wayans, on board as host and executive producer. According to reports it was Wayans' idea to revive the show, and the plan was for Fox to present two In Living Color half-hour specials to air as part of the network’s 25th anniversary celebration on April 22, with a series option behind them. If the two specials are a ratings success, then the new In Living Color will be picked up as a series next season. But it looks like this will happen at a later date, since shooting is scheduled to begin in April. How about the cast? Announced this afternoon, Kali Hawk, Jennifer Bartels, Jermaine Fowler and Lilrel Howery have all signed on to be part »

Jennifer Lopez would be open to helping her former "In Living Color" boss, Keenen Ivory Wayans, with the upcoming return of the sketch comedy, set to happen on Fox this spring.
"It's what?" Jennifer said, when AccessHollywood.com asked her if she'd want to be a part of the show, which returns with an updated version of the sketch comedy, in two half-hour specials in Spring 2012.
"Oh my God, I didn't even know! That's awesome," she told Access on Sunday after the Television Critics Association Winter Session panel for "American Idol" of "In Living Color" being revived.
