2016 Emmy Contenders: Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series

7 June 2016 2:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The appeal of a guest role is obvious as an actor can often make the maximum impact in minimum screen time. That’s why previous winners love to drop in on other shows, such as Hank Azaria showing up on “Ray Donovan,” Michael J. Fox popping over to “The Good Wife” and Brad Garrett showing his dramatic range on “Law & Order: Svu.”

Last year, Reg E. Cathey took home the prize for his work on “House of Cards” after two nominations. He’s likely to receive another nomination for the role of Freddy, though his co-star Colm Feore could also figure into the mix.

There are certain shows that tend to do well time and again in the guest category. One is “The Good Wife,” which has a plethora of potential nominees, from the aforementioned Fox to Denis O’Hare and Blair Underwood, both involved in a powerful gun control episode. »

Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 episode 15 review: Spacetime

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. delivers one of its best episodes to date with season 3’s Spacetime, full of snazzy powers and big confrontations..

This review contains spoilers

3.15 Spacetime

When I saw the premise for this episode – essentially 'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. does Minority Report' – I was a bit sceptical. Could 45 minutes do justice to a sci-fi concept as massive as precognition? I was worried that the idea may come across as cheesy, like it did in Men In Black 3. Or, worse still, that it would throw up the type of timey-wimey plot holes that always incur internet backlash.

But, I’m glad to report that my doubts were unnecessary. Spacetime – thanks to a ballsy script by the showrunners, and confident direction from the oft-impressive Kevin Tancharoen - felt like one of the most imaginative and well-engineered Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. instalments to date.

The Good Wife Recap: Lewd — Looks Like a Lady

I’m not sure if The Good Wife‘s Lucca Quinn takes longer than your average attorney to score a bowl of chips while out for drinks at a Chicago pub.

But even if said mission required her to exit said establishment, walk down the block to the nearest corner store and smuggle back a bag of Funyuns, I’m pretty sure her pals Alicia Florrick and Jason Crouse wouldn’t have time to safely “shock the monkey” underneath their corner table before Lucca’s return.

The Good Wife Can't Keep Her Hands to Herself (Plus, A Gun Control Debate)

Alicia Florrick, you nasty. In The Good Wife's Sunday, March 20 episode, "Shoot," Alicia really couldn't keep her hands to herself. We're talking about public, under the table hand jobs. Yeah. You saw that. Anyway, let's get down to the nitty gritty, because you know Alicia wants to. Can we first talk about what an effective opening the episode had? It depicted Blair Underwood's character through the years with his daughter leading up to her shooting death on prom night (of all nights). It got real. The case, which was about liability and defamation and all that, was typical Good Wife taking a stand on political issue, but I was more invested after that opening. In the end, Judge Denis O'Hare »
