What do you think about when you think about conventions?

If you’re a pedant like me, you might think a convention is a social norm.

If you’re a corporate type (sometimes like me), you think a convention is a trade show where industry insiders get together to discuss current developments in their field, while a variety of vendors try to interest potential new customers in their products.

If you’re a political junkie (also like me), you might think a convention is an event at which a political party nominates its candidates.

And if you’re a geek (again, I self-identify), you think a convention is a long weekend of panels, exhibits, cosplay and shopping.

As it happens, I enjoy all but the first of these conventions. My dad took me to a few shopping center conventions and I loved walking through the exhibit halls, considering new kinds »

Will Fuller House Meet Growing Pains? Alan Thicke Books Season 2 Guest Role

Will Dr. Jason Seaver be showing the Tanners that smile? For those not in the know on TV theme songs, that means Alan Thicke of Growing Pains fame is guest starring on Fuller House when it returns for a second season on Netflix. Thicke starred on ABC's Growing Pains from 1985-1992. His costar: None other than Fuller House star's Candace Cameron Bure's real-life brother Kirk Cameron. Thicke took to Twitter to announce his guest spot, which got many sitcom fans buzzing about a possible crossover. "Fuller House is over its growing pains. Renewed season 2. See you there. Unusually Thicke: Season Two Renewal for Pop TV Series

We're in the thick of it. Pop has renewed its Unusually Thicke TV series for a second season. This reality sitcom stars Alan Thicke, his wife Tanya Callau, and son Carter Thicke, as themselves.

Guests in the first season included other Thicke family members, including Robin Thicke, as well as Thicke's Growing Pains co-stars Joanna Kerns, Tracey Gold, and Jeremy Miller also appeared.

Alan Thicke, Justin Hartley Cast in Dan Fogelman 'Birthday' Pilot for NBC

Growing Pains' Alan Thicke has been cast in Dan Fogelman's untitled pilot at NBC. The Grandfathered and Galavant Ep also executive produced The Neighbors, which was cancelled by ABC after two seasons.

Per Variety, Fogelman's untitled project is a dramedy featuring eight people who share the same birthday. Thicke joins a cast that includes: Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Justin Hartley, Sterling Brown, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Ron Cephas Jones.
