Remember How Terrifying The Strangers Was? Well, the Sequel Is Coming

  • BuzzSugar
A surprising number of people will tell you that The Strangers, a 2008 home invasion horror movie starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, is one of the scariest movies ever. There's something about the terrifying mix of facts that make up the movie: it's loosely based on true events, it's something that can literally happen to anyone, and the killers don't seem to select their victims for any reason other than that they were home. Now, the sequel is coming back for round two. Titled The Strangers: Prey at Night, it looks like our favorite (or most reviled) masked villains are up to their old tricks. Suddenly, "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany is the scariest song ever written. Good luck with your nightmares! Related9 Horror Movies That We're Already Looking Forward to in 2018

The Strangers: Prey At Night trailer

Joseph Baxter Nov 17, 2017

Horror sequel The Strangers: Prey At Night stars Christina Hendricks as a woman whose family is terrorised by masked misfits.

The Strangers arrived in 2008 as an insular, tonally-terrifying, horror film outing, centering on a young couple (Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman,) who are stalked in her remotely-located childhood summer home by three masked assailants. While it divided audiences, the film’s back-to-basics plot on a microscopic $9 million budget proved to be a successful formula, grossing $82.39 million worldwide.

Now, nearly a decade later, after having crossed major dilatory hurdles, the long-awaited sequel, The Strangers: Prey at Night, is nigh.

The Strangers: Prey Tt Night trailer taps the spirit of the original film, expanding its setting to trailer park, where, once again, a family find themselves the fixated target of three masked maniacs. This time, however, the ordeal is suffered by Cindy (Christina Hendricks), husband Luke (Lewis Pullman

‘The Strangers: Prey at Night’ Trailer: Christina Hendricks Gets Terrorized in This Horror Reboot

  • Indiewire
‘The Strangers: Prey at Night’ Trailer: Christina Hendricks Gets Terrorized in This Horror Reboot
In 2008, director Brian Bertino released “The Strangers,” a tense horror film starring Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler as a married couple who are terrorized at their vacation home by a pair of masked strangers. The film was inspired in part by the murder of actress Sharon Tate in 1969 by the Manson Family, and also by a series of break-ins that occurred in Bertino’s neighborhood growing up. The film was a box office success, and was also named one of IndieWire’s 20 best horror films of the 21st century.

Nearly a decade later, “The Strangers” is getting a reboot co-written by Bertino and directed by Johannes Roberts, who directed 2017’s highest grossing indie, “47 Meters Down.” According to the synopsis, “The Strangers: Prey at Night” follows a family staying in a secluded mobile home park for the night who are visited by three masked psychopaths. The family must put their survival

The masked killers return in teaser for The Strangers: Prey at Night

  • JoBlo
Almost ten years ago, Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman were terrorized by three masked assailants in Bryan Bertino's The Strangers, a horror film which I've always been meaning to watch, but have yet to get around to. Much like my own procrastination regarding the film, it's taken quite some time to get a sequel off the ground, although, The Strangers: Prey At Night is described as being "inspired" by the 2008 film, rather than serving as a direct sequel.... The Strangers 2 Gets a New Title and Image

  • Cinelinx
One of the most terrifying home-invasion horror films of recent history is finally getting a sequel. And now it not only has a new image, but a brand new title.

First off, back in 2008 I went to theaters to see a little known film called The Strangers. It stared Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as a struggling couple in a vacation home out on its own when they are terrorized by a group of individuals in masks. Roughly based on the Tate Murders of the summer on 1969. It absolutely terrified me. To this day the film is one of my all-time favorite horror films, and has grown as a cult classic of the horror genre.

Now it looks like we are finally getting our sequel to it. Filming began early this year on the project which was known at the time only as The Strangers 2, but now Bloody Disgusting is

‘The Strangers 2’ Coming In Early 2018

The horror film was written and directed by Bryan Bertino, starred Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, and revolved around ‘ a young couple staying in an isolated vacation home are terrorized by three unknown assailants.’ Well, it looks like it is getting a sequel, ten years on, and we have the first image from it, which you can see below.

Strangers: Prey At Night is the title of the film, and it will be brought to the big screen by 47 Meters Down director Johannes Roberts, and the even better news is that it is getting a release less than six months from now.

Here’s Your First Look At The Strangers 2

Ten years is a lifetime in the film industry.

To put that into perspective, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was viewed as little more than wishful thinking back in 2007, when Jon Favreau and the Powers That Be quietly began plotting an Iron Man post-credits scene involving a certain Nick Fury. Twelve months later, Favreau’s standalone pic launched Robert Downey Jr.’s career into the stratosphere and the rest is history. But 2008 also witnessed the release of a lesser-known horror pic. Its name? The Strangers.

Headed up by Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, the home invasion thriller became something of a cult hit nine years ago and now, after enduring a prolonged spell in pre-production, The Strangers 2 is officially on the cards. Former Mad Men star Christina Hendricks, Bailee Madison and Lewis Pullman have all climbed aboard to anchor the horror sequel, while Johannes Roberts of 47 Meters Down fame is at the helm,

Exclusive: Adam Brody Says He Auditioned for 'Dawson's Creek' Before Landing 'The O.C.'
Before StartUp star Adam Brody broke through as Seth Cohen on The O.C., he went out for several coveted TV projects when he was first starting out -- including one very popular WB teen soap.

“I can’t remember specifically, but some very early ones -- the Power Rangers maybe, definitely Dawson’s Creek. I read with Scott Speedman and I didn’t get it,” the 37-year-old actor-producer revealed to Et’s Katie Krause in our Burbank studio on Monday.

Brody insists, though, that he didn’t go out for the role of Pacey on Dawson’s, which was played by Joshua Jackson.

“It was later on,” he recalled. “That was [one of] my first [auditions] -- it felt like, ‘Whoa, this is a real TV show,’ and Blue’s Clues! To be the dude [Steve]. I would have killed for that role when I was 19, 20. I remember going, ‘This would be an alright life. This dog and

How Horror Movie The Strangers Is - and Isn't - Based on a "True Story"

  • BuzzSugar
The 2018 horror movie slate is already building up quite the repertoire. In addition to a fourth Insidious film and an epic Halloween reboot, we're also getting a sequel to 2008's The Strangers. In this next installment, The Strangers 2, another evil trio torments a family in a trailer park. As far as we can tell, it's not based on a true story. Which, actually, brings us back to one of the most contentious facts about the original film. Did you think The Strangers actually happened in real life? After all, the original teaser trailer posited that it was "inspired by true events." Well, we've got some news for you. In 2008, The Strangers, one of the most unsettling movies ever, hit theaters. It wasn't so much that the film, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, boasted a unique concept; it's your typical, bloody home invasion film. And though it's a decent horror film,

American Horror Story Fans Can't Stop Comparing Season 7 to This Horror Movie

  • BuzzSugar
Image Source: FX American Horror Story just started its seventh season, Cult, and it's wasted no time in scaring the living sh*t out of everyone watching. Killer clowns? Bloody crumpets? Trypophobia? Donald Trump winning the election all over again? Just thinking about the premiere makes us feel sick to our stomachs. While the show is clearly terrifying all on its own, it's hard not to notice some thematic similarities to past horror movies. In addition to season seven's Rosemary's Baby vibes and the connections to Karyn Kusama's The Invitation, the murderous, masked clowns in Cult bear a startling resemblance to the 2008 thriller The Strangers. The film, which is reportedly based on a true story, stars Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as a couple terrorized by three violent assailants in their isolated vacation home. The masks the home invaders wear aren't overtly clown-ish, but they're still pretty horrific. RelatedThis

Actors Who Were Almost Spider-Man
How many actors have played Spider-Man? We've had more Spider-Man movies than there are Baldwin brothers, or Kardashian sisters. But so what? Everybody loves the friendly neighborhood webhead! It's been more than half a century since Amazing Fantasy #15 hit the stands and ever since Stan Lee and Steve Ditko gave us the kid who does whatever a spider can, Peter Parker's popularity has covered the world like a spider spinning its web. (Ugh sorry).

The wise cracking, hard working, hard luck hero is a young actor's dream. The number of guys who have wanted to get in that mask earned by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland could fill a Spider-Verse movie packed with Miles Morales, Doc Ock, Spider-Gwen and every other comic version of the wall crawler. Here, we look at 10 Actors who were almost cast as Spider-Man. For whatever reason, they just didn't make it into that costume.
