Bikini-Clad Ashley Olsen Makes a Splash in Hawaii

21 May 2012 10:30 PM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Ashley Olsen took a dip in the ocean during a recent vacation in Maui, Hawaii. The designer wore black bikini bottoms and a printed top while she smiled and enjoyed herself in the waves. The last time we saw Ashley, she was a little more bundled up to meet her pal Leelee Sobieski for lunch in NYC. Ashley didn't walk the red carpet at this month's Met Gala, but her twin sister, Mary-Kate, attended in a sleek custom-made gown from their line The Row. The duo appeared together on the cover of Elle UK in April, when they discussed their decision to quit acting to focus on their multiple fashion lines. View Slideshow › »

New York — Film adaptations of beloved novels never cease to cause frenzy among fans as to which actors deserve which roles. We saw it with "Twilight" and, more recently, with "The Hunger Games." And E L James' popular book "Fifty Shades of Grey" is no different. When the author made her way into New York's Union Square for a book signing at Barnes & Noble, MTV News was on the scene to witness readers avidly campaigning for who they'd like to see land the lead roles.

"Personally, I want Christian Bale to play Christian Grey because of his experience with 'American Psycho,' " one fan told us. »

NYC 22: Cancelled; No Season Two on CBS

13 May 2012 7:27 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

The rookies of NYC 22 won't be honing their police skills on CBS much longer. The network has cancelled the cop series before the entire season has finished airing.

NYC 22 follows a half dozen police men and women as they learn the ropes in the Big Apple. The ensemble cast includes Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, Stark Sands, Judy Marte, Harold House Moore, Felix Solis, Tom Reed, and Terry Kinney.

Debuting on April 15th, in (now-cancelled) CSI: Miami's former timeslot, NYC 22 attracted a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.86 million viewers. The second episode dropped 7% and the third fell 14% more. Last Sunday night's episode maintained a 1.2 in the demo and 6.87 million.

It was clear from the start that this new show was doomed to be cancelled.

Roadside Attractions Branded by Giant Monsters

9 May 2012 8:02 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

There have been many recent movies about aliens invading. Skyline, The Darkest Hour, Battle: Los Angeles - the list goes on and on. Along with aliens, those films have one thing in common ... they were all mediocre at best. But Branded? Man, this looks like fun!

Below you'll find the Russian trailer for Mockba 2017, which will be known as Branded here in the States. According to Variety, Roadside Attractions has acquired North American rights to the flick and plans a nationwide theatrical release this September. Lionsgate has home entertainment, VOD and other ancillary rights through their output deal.

Ed Stoppard, Leelee Sobieski, Jeffrey Tambor, Ingeborga Dabkunaite and Max Von Sydow star. Check out the goods, which have a very distinct They Live kind of flavor to them. Look for more on this flick, which was co-written, produced and directed by marketing executives Jamie Bradshaw and Alexander Doulerain, very soon!

Russia Gets Weird In Branded (aka Moscow 2017, aka The Mad Cow)

9 May 2012 8:48 AM, PDT | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

To those looking for a really weird example of Russia's growing importance in the international film scene - the nation is building screens at a fantastic rate and currently is establishing itself as one of the top handful of film markets in the world based on box office - need look only as far as Jamie Bradshaw and Alexander Doulerain's Branded.Co-written and co-directed by the UK based Bradshaw and the Russian based Doulerain, Branded - known variously as Moscow 2017, Moskva 2017, and The Mad Cow - plays out a sort of They Live-on-acid premise set in Russia with a cast of international players that includes - on the western side - Jeffrey Tambor, Max von Sydow, Ed Stoppard and Leelee Sobieski. 'Branded' Trailer: Leelee Sobieski, Jeffrey Tambor and Max von Sydow vs Wacky Russian Special Effects

8 May 2012 4:44 PM, PDT | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

Alien invasion movies are a dime a dozen these days, but that doesn't stop us from getting excited about them. The good ones - last year's Attack the Block, for example -can be ridiculously fun, and the bad ones, well, those can be fun too if the right amount of alcohol is applied. Judging from the looks of the trailer for Branded (aka Moscow 2017), though, we're not sure we're going to survive the liquor this one is going to require. Going off the trailer alone here, I can't tell if it's a legit alien invasion film or a satire on consumer culture. Either way, 2017 apparently sees the release of a Resident Evil: Extinction knockoff called President Devil: Restitution, Ed Stoppard gets really angry when it rains, and Leelee Sobieski and...

The 10 greatest Jason Statham films

4 May 2012 4:15 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

To celebrate the presence of Safe in UK cinemas, here’s an updated list of action hero Jason Statham’s very best films to date…

2011 was without doubt Jason Statham’s best year so far. He managed a grand total of four cinematic releases, though at one point that total was nearer six, until 13 seemed to vanish without a trace and Safe was sensibly pushed back to 2012, thus avoiding an overload of machismo greater than the average human could cope with.

As a result of his insane productivity, our long-standing list of his greatest movies so far needed an update, an event that will hopefully need to be done annually, as he continues to be one of the most productive actors working today.

Statham’s still sensibly chosen to concentrate on making action movies and thrillers all squarely aimed at an adult audience, providing a constant and much-needed fix for someone as bloodthirsty as me, »

This Fall ‘Branded’ Will Use Marketing To Take Over Your Mind

23 April 2012 10:00 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

According to Anne Thompson, Roadside Attractions picked up Jamie Bradshaw‘s sci-fi thriller Branded. The film is set in a future where corporate entities have created brands which make the entire population complacent, and one man fights against them to expose the truth. Hopefully the product placement will be as hilarious as it is ironic. “The most powerful weapon on earth today is not a gun or a disease, nor is it even visible to many,” says Bradshaw. “It is Marketing.  Marketing is the power to control your desires and change your mind, and if you look closer there is something about it that is not of this earth.” It stars Ed Stoppard (Brideshead Revisited), Leelee Sobieski and Jeffrey Tambor. It sounds like a fantastic, timely concept, and for the life of me I can’t figure it out, but I really want to eat a Doritos-shell Taco Bell taco right now. Maybe »
