Lindelof is currently in talks with HBO to serve as an executive producer/showrunner to bring the story to life for the small screen after their first attempt at a miniseries in 2014 lost traction. The new venture into the DC comic looks set to start from scratch with any work on the first attempt to be completely scrapped giving Lindeloff free reign to let his creative juices flow.
Back in 2009, Zack Synder took the helm on the feature length Watchmen which had a cast that included Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Patrick Wilson, Billy Crudup but the series is said to have no relation to the feature. The film was a darkly satirical and dystopian take on the superhero genre, the film is set in an alternate history in the year 1985 at the height of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, as a group of mostly retired American superheroes investigates the murder of one of their own before uncovering an elaborate and deadly conspiracy, while their moral limitations are challenged by the complex nature of the circumstances.
With HBO declining to comment thus far on the news no other details are available as to plot or format for the new show.
Let’s hope this version can at least gather some momentum, what with HBO’s previous attempt at trying to get the series off the ground, numerous live action adaptations have failed to come to fruition. Between October 1987 and October 2005, an adaptation of the Watchmen series became stranded in development hell; Producer Lawrence Gordon began developing the project at 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros., the parent company of Watchmen publisher DC Comics, with producer Joel Silver and director Terry Gilliam, with the latter, eventually deeming the complex comic “un-filmable”

The cult cyber sci-fi is rumoured for a reboot that no one asked for. Is it just another excuse to give a dead franchise the comic-book treatment?
The first question about a potential reboot, remake, or reupholstering of The Matrix is this: who was asking for it? And why? Keanu Reeves wasn’t asking, though he said recently he’d be up for it if it were written and directed by its original creators, the Wachowskis. Thing is, they’re not involved yet either. Only original producer Joel Silver is anywhere to be seen in the vicinity of this rumoured rehash, and he and the Wachowskis have been described as having a “strained” relationship. Silver also no longer owns rights to The Matrix, so there’s that, too.

A remake of Escape from New York has been in the planning stages for ages. Now, the long gestating redo is finally moving forward, as it was announced yesterday that action maestro Robert Rodriguez is stepping in to take the helm on this sci-fi thriller that will resurrect Snake Plissken for the big screen. How does original director John Carpenter feel about this choice? Well, he actually loves it quite a bit. Sharing his thoughts on Twitter, he says this.
John Carpenter is not a man to mince words. And he's never offered praise where it's not deserved. The man behind such classics as the original Halloween, The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, The Fog and Assault on Precinct 13 is no stranger to remakes, »
After years of delays, with Breck Eisner once attached to direct and Gerard Butler and Jeremy Renner previously eyed to star, 20th Century Fox's Escape From New York remake is finally moving forward. The studio has brought on filmmaker Robert Rodriguez to direct this highly-anticipated remake, although no production schedule has been given. Luther creator Neil Cross came aboard to write the script back in October 2015.
Deadline reports that Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman are set to produce the remake through their production company known as The Picture Company. 20th Century Fox won the rights to this iconic franchise back in January 2015 in a bidding war, with original Escape From New York director John Carpenter coming aboard as an executive producer. No details have been given regarding the new script by Neil Cross, or how different it will be from the original movie, but it is believed that the studio »
Everything old is new again. It was revealed this week that Warner Bros is currently considering rebooting The Matrix and making a new series of movies. Keanu Reeves had hinted at the possibility of returning for a fourth Matrix for some time. However, WB appears to be interested in forging a new path. In a world full of endless remakes, sequels and reinterpretations, a Matrix re-imagining seems wholly unnecessary. So let's explore why The Matrix needs to be revisited, but not rebooted. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that a film as revered and respected as The Matrix would get a reboot. Even a film as treasured as The Lion King is getting a live-action do-over. So let's explore why The Matrix needs to be revisited, but not rebooted. This apparetnly all started when Matrix producer Joel Silver approached Warner Bros with the idea to expand the onscreen Matrix mythology. »

Anyone who’s ever seen the movie The Program is well aware of who Andrew Bryniarski is. He’s the jacked guy that played the ‘roided up Lattimer. For later generations of movie goers Bryniarski also played Leatherface in the 2006 Texas Chainsaw massacre remake. Andrew Bryniarski is known particularly for playing imposing “muscular” roles which makes perfect sense given he’s 6’ 5″ and a former bodybuilder. He came to Hollywood for a short summer vacation to visit a friend, was spotted by a talent scout who set up a screen test for Joel Silver, and all of a sudden he was

Many fans are still reeling from the news that Warner Bros. is exploring a Matrix reboot, with the studio bringing on Zak Penn (The Avengers) to write a treatment. The project is still in the very early stages of development, although sources claim that Michael B. Jordan is being eyed for the project, with another report stating that Warner Bros. is planning a writers room to come up with ideas for a cinematic universe. But that hasn't been confirmed by the studio. If this does come to fruition, The Matrix 4 will become the latest in a growing group of franchises to use this writers room format.
Deadline broke the news of this potential writers room being utilized, but it isn't clear how Zak Penn will fit into this process. As of now, the initial report only revealed that he's writing the treatment and not the full screenplay yet, but perhaps »
