Fango has learned that Infestation, the killer-bug movie from writer/director Kyle Rankin (of Project Greenlight and the highly regarded Hellholes quartet of Atomfilms on-line shorts) will have its premiere this summer on the Sci Fi Channel (to be redubbed Syfy as of next month). In fact, a whole slew of debut dates for assorted Sci Fi/Syfy flicks have come to our attention, guaranteeing a fun summer for creature-feature fans.

There’s a few things I can’t seem to get enough of: good beer, fast cars, cool movies, fun comics, first person shooter video games and tv shows where the main character shoots guys in the leg, electrocutes suspects and threatens to stab bad guys in the eye with a pen in order to get them to talk. Of course, I’m talking about the super cool show 24 featuring a great character named Jack Bauer.
24 is one of those shows that’s often over the top but you just gotta love Jack Bauer and his “take no prisoners” attitude. He will do anything to save lives of innocent Americans. And I mean anything. Now, we can potentially add another interesting character to the mix at CTU next season because, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Freddie Prinze, Jr. is joining the cast of the show as a regular character

Although the name Freddie Prinze Jr. might be synonymous with cheeky teen romantic comedies, the actor has been cast in the upcoming eighth season of 24, which began production yesterday, though it won’t premiere until Jan. 17, 2010. Prinze will be a regular in the role of Davis Cole, a recently returned Marine who runs CTU Field Ops and views Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) as a kind of mentor. The announcement has already started buzz that Prinze may be the new young stud to take the place of Jack Bauer, and carry on the torch for 24. However, a closer look reveals that this is hardly the first time the show has introduced a strapping young lad with a grand “Jack Bauer” career path.
Chase Edmunds (James Badge Dale) and Mike Doyle (Ricky Schroder) were both introduced in the past, with the air of one day replacing Mr. Bauer surrounding their characters, though

Actor Ricky Schroder picked up a ticket for chatting on his cellphone as he drove away from a courthouse following a legal victory.
The star won a legal battle with a woman who accused him of stealing tools from her - but his celebration was short lived.
Alice Roberts claimed the 24 star conspired with her ex-boyfriend to take tools worth $7,000 (GBP4,965) from her Malibu, California home.
Schroder and his friend, plumber Brent Black, countersued, accusing Roberts of suing out of revenge, and dragging the actor into the mess unnecessarily.
And a Malibu small claims court found in their favour on Tuesday, reports TMZ.com.
But it wasn't all good news for Schroder - after leaving the courthouse and celebrating in front of photographers, the actor jumped in his car, drove off and was pulled over by cops for using a cellphone while driving.

SyFy... do I really have to spell it that way? ... is kicking up its summer season shortly with a bevy of content that you'll either find fun and frothy or will force you claw your eyes out with mellon-ballers.
Either way, the pain is the same.
Oh, I kid! I love the SyFy Channel. It's like your Uncle Zebbidiah who mutters an endless series of amusing but quite incomprehensible babblings; you keep inviting him over because, well, he's family and it's your duty to look after him, insanity and all. Plus, every once in a while, he plays a great hand of poker.
Coming up this summer is the return of Eureka on July 10th and Ghost Hunters on July 8th.
New this summer is Warehouse 13 an action / comedy about the people who look after all that strange magical and extra-terrestrial stuff we always hear about but never quite see.

Actor Rick Schroder is caught up in a legal battle with a California woman who is accusing him of stealing $7,000 (£4,965)-worth of workman's tools.
The former NYPD Blue star, full name Richard Schroder, and his plumber pal Brent Black are being sued by Black's ex-girlfriend Alicia Roberts.
Roberts claims Black, who moved out of her Malibu, California home in December, entered her residence with Schroder "without permission or knowledge" and took the tools.
The duo has fired back at the allegations, and is countersuing.
Black alleges Roberts is a "crazy, bitter b**ch" and is still in possession of his tools. He further claims Roberts is suing out of revenge and has dragged Schroder into their dispute, reports TMZ.com.
Schroder is seeking $5,000 (£3,455) in compensation, alleging he hasn't even met Roberts and has lost work as a result of the lawsuit.
In his counter claim, he states, "I made at least $5,000 for directing work and had to cancell (sic) work."
Schroder goes on to accuse Roberts of committing perjury, harassing him and trespassing on his property.
