Leverage Review: Two Grifters and a Thief Walk Into a Party...

11 December 2011 10:28 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Stop me if you’ve heard this one... What do you get when Sophie, Parker, and the visiting Tara work together? "The Girls' Night Out Job," where no boys certainly didn’t mean no fun!

Jeri Ryan, welcome back to Leverage. We haven’t seen Tara since the end of season two and she seems to be doing well. Then again, Ryan has been keeping busy with another show that I also enjoy very much, Body of Proof.

It was fun getting to watch Tara and Sophie’s different styles of grifting. Tara was much more the “act first" type, figuring out a plan and just going with it. Conversely, Sophie was "think first," creating an interesting dynamic. Neither was bad, of course. Both were highly successful, as the party goers never knew what hit them.

Going into the episode, I was worried that Parker would be out of her »

'Leverage': Beth Riesgraf previews tonight's timeline-bending caper

Tonight is girl’s night on Leverage.

Parker (Beth Riesgraf) and Sophie (Gina Bellman) team up for a job in the first of two gender-splitting episodes that will air over the next two weeks. “The boys go out for a night and the girls go out for a night,” explains Riesgraf. “This week we’ll see the girls out on the town and what trouble they get into and how Parker manages to rope everyone else in. And you’ll see how the two episodes interlink next week.”

In tonight’s episode, Sophie and her friend Tara (Jeri Ryan) meet up for a night out, »

Beth Riesgraf Teases Leverage's Girls' Night Out: Parker Has a 'Sweet' Realization About Hardison

10 December 2011 5:00 AM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

This Sunday at 9/8c, TNT’s Leverage presents “The Girls’ Night Out Job” aka one half of a split-narrative story that concludes next week with – you guessed it — “The Boys’ Night Out Job.” In the distaff side of the story, Parker and Sophie hit the bars with gal pals to get away from the “office,” only to get caught up in a caper. Along the way, Parker phones-a-hacker-friend, Hardison, paving the way for some fun, flirty and jealous moments.

TVLine invited Beth Riesgraf to preview the girls’ big night, share her wish for a bit more ‘Harker’ romance, and look ahead to the guest star-studded, »

Aldis Hodge Talks The Office, Guys' Night Out and More!

4 December 2011 5:15 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

What happens when The Office meets Leverage? Fans of the latter will find out tonight.

On the aptly-titled "The Office Job," Nate Ford and company will attempt to bust up an embezzlement scheme by infiltrating a business and acting as its employees. But this basic mission will take a turn when team members find themselves thrust into a documentary being filmed on location.

Leverage Promo: "The Office Job"

Previews Aldis Hodge, who says he's a huge fan of the NBC sitcom to which Leverage is paying homage:

"It was fun to mash up our style with theirs... they deal directly with the cameras every week, while our job is to be conspicuous, to be the guys you don't see. The results end up being terribly funny."

This week's installment marks the first in a run of unusual episodes for the TNT hit. Over the next two Sundays, for example, viewers »

Aldis Hodge: Leverage's Return Includes a Riff on The Office and One 'Very Sexy' Episode

25 November 2011 8:35 PM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

TNT’s Leverage resumes its fourth season this Sunday at 9/8c, rejoining what has in recent months become a ferociously competitive night of TV. Luckily, the caper drama has some of its most clever (and noisiest) episodes in the pipeline. Among them, there’s a riff on The Office (where Nate’s team infiltrates a workplace that is the subject of a documentary), “girls night out” and “boys night out” episodes that fit together like a puzzle, and a season finale that promises to trot out “a foe from the past.” TVLine invited Aldis Hodge, who plays Hardison aka “The Hacker, »

Halo: Helljumper (2012) Web Series Trailer

24 November 2011 6:03 AM, PST | Film-Book | See recent Film-Book news »

Halo Helljumper Trailer. Dan Wang‘s Halo: Helljumper (2012) web series trailer stars Bradley Rose, Mingyu Chu, Kimberly Carvalho, Tyler La Marr, and Daniel Benhamu. Halo: Helljumper is “a short series of films that follows the life of one human Odst from his enlistment in the Unsc before the Human-Covenant War to around the Fall of Reach. Unlike a lot of soldiers, he was lucky enough to survive through 27 years of a losing battle against a hostile alien civilization, known as the Covenant. Through his experiences, we’re going to expose you to an amazing universe full of devastation, grief, affection, and most importantly, hope.”

Halo: Helljumper is “adapted from the short story ‘Dirt’ by Tobias S. Buckell.” Pretty good production value and entertainment here.

Their stated goal is to uphold the law of the land and put the bad guys behind bars, but every TV fan knows that our favorite small-screen cops, detectives, and agents — as well as their colleagues who semi-officially serve in crime-fighting capacities — have a duty to increase pulses and raise the temperatures of whatever rooms they enter.

We recently wrapped up a 64-player bracket tournament for male law-enforcement types — won by NCIS‘ Tony Dinozzo — and since we’re equal opportunity oglers/romantics, we figured we’d better construct a similar showdown for their female counterparts.

Today, we kick things off with hotties from The X-Files, »

Body of Proof: More Episodes Ordered; Are They the Last?

21 November 2011 9:54 PM, PST | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

The alphabet network has ordered three more episodes for their sophomore drama series Body of Proof. This will bring the second season to a total of 20 episodes. Last spring, ABC ordered 13 episodes for season two and combined them with four leftover installments from the first season.

Starring Dana Delany, Geoffrey Arend, Jeri Ryan, John Carroll Lynch, Nicholas Bishop, Sonja Sohn and Windell Middlebrooks, Body of Proof is currently the weakest scripted series currently on the network when it comes to the coveted 18-49 demographic. The eight episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 1.9 in the demo with 9.49 million viewers. That's down by 17% when compared to last year.

While the additional episode order is positive for fans of the series, unless the ratings significantly improve, Body of Proof has very little chance of seeing a third season. It seems »

Body of Proof: Should ABC Have Cancelled the Show?

10 November 2011 4:48 PM, PST | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

ABC has been searching for new hit dramas to replace their older ones for some time. Lost went off the air in 2010, Brothers & Sisters was cancelled last May, and Desperate Housewives is ending next spring. Last season, Body of Proof was the only new drama that held any promise and ABC renewed it. In retrospect, was that a mistake?

Body of Proof stars Dana Delany as Doctor Megan Hunt, a former neurosurgeon who became a medical examiner after a serious car accident. Megan can be difficult to work with but won't give up until she gets answers and expects the best from herself and her co-workers. Others in the cast include Jeri Ryan, Nicholas Bishop, Geoffrey Arend, Windell D. Middlebrooks, John Carroll Lynch, and Sonja Sohn.

Will Emily Thorne make trouble for Emily Thorne? Will Otto ultimately be the Sons’ undoing? What slice of sweet scoop does a Criminal Minds star have to share? Read on for those answers, plus other teases from TV’s hottest shows.

Revenge | As you likely surmised from promos, the real Emily Thorne (played by Vanished alum Margarita Levieva) is going to be sticking around, apparently while wearing barely-there swimwear. New interview with Sasha Roiz and the weekend monster update

5 November 2011 9:00 PM, PDT | CapricaTV | See recent CapricaTV news »

Let's start the weekly round-up with Grimm.

Grimm's ratings dropped a little this week, but the show still won the 18-49 demo in its timeslot, finishing ahead of CSI: NY, Fringe and Supernatural, and rising by a full frakking ratings point (1.8) after Chuck (0.8). Wake up, Chuck.

Hitfix visited the set in Portland recently and posted a lengthy report. Here is a snippet:

Sasha Roiz on how his character will develop later in the series: "I’m not a Grimm descendent, but I'm a descendent of a long line that dates back just as Grimm does and we have a bit of a history and a past, so my line is a royal line and that will slowly unfold throughout the series."Collider has a longer interview with Sasha and Reggie Lee (more at the link):

It’s nice to see your character – like the main character – has the duality. »

The Captains DVD Review

24 October 2011 12:36 PM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

The Captains Written and Directed by: William Shatner Starring: William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula, Chris Pine The Captains is a documentary made for fans of Star Trek. It features interviews with the actors who starred as starship captains in the Star Trek franchise. What makes this Star Trek documentary unique is that it was written and directed by William Shatner, the second actor to play a starship captain. (Shatner replaced the first actor as captain, Jeffrey Hunter, who starred in only the pilot episode of Star Trek. Hunter has gone on to the final frontier, and so was not contacted for an interview.) Also the interviews were conducted by Shatner, who appears on-screen with his interviewees. On viewing this documentary, it soon becomes apparent that its focus is not on Star Trek, but rather on Shatner himself. I confess. I am a lapsed Trekkie. I »

Shatner Boldly Seeks Out Fellow 'Star Trek' Captains To Find His Own Star

10 October 2011 8:43 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

For the past 45 years, William Shatner has gone boldly where few actors have gone before thanks to his iconic role as Captain James Tiberius Kirk on the original "Star Trek" series.

The role made him famous beyond anyone's wildest dreams and while Kirk helmed the Starship Enterprise, Shatner helmed both a successful TV series (at least in reruns) and six wildly successful films in one of the most successful movie franchises.

But it was only while making his new documentary, "The Captains," that Shatner, now 80, finally became Ok with the fact that when he dies, he will be remembered mainly for his role as Kirk, despite his Emmy-winning work on "Boston Legal" and other roles in his career.

"Over the years, I've become barraged by comments from people, such as, 'Beam me up, Scotty!' and I became defensive," he told HuffPost Weird News. "I felt they were derisive and engendered an attitude. »

Warehouse 13 Q&A: Eddie McClintock Previews Tonight's Two-Hour Season Finale and More!

3 October 2011 12:02 AM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Warehouse 13, Syfy's highest rated original series, is concluding its third season tonight and according to Eddie McClintock, "They've really raised the stakes for the last two episodes." W13's affable male lead answered questions last week about tonight's two-hour finale and TV Over Mind joined the fun. Already renewed for a fourth season and with its first spinoff in the works, Eddie assures fans that this year's finale will be very different than last season's controversial ender. "Last year's cliffhanger to me wasn't really a cliffhanger. To me a cliffhanger is like, the damsel is tied to the railroad tracks, the train's coming, the guy's racing to get there, 'What's going to happen next,' not, 'Oh no, one of the characters left.' It kind of ticked a lot of people off. I remember getting a lot of twitters about, 'I'm not going to watch the show if »

Body of Proof: The Complete First Season - DVD Review

2 October 2011 11:02 AM, PDT | Monsters and Critics | See recent Monsters and Critics news »

Dana Delany leaves the wives of Wisteria Lane to solve crimes as the brilliant Dr. Megan Hunt in the first season of the excellent new series Body of Proof. While the series doesn.t feel like the typical crime genre cop show, Delany and the ensemble cast keep each episode entertaining and give the series a reason for fans to keep watching. Created by Christopher Murphey (who wrote the screenplay for the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid), the series (which has been described as Quincy with better legs) feels very much like an ensemble show with Delany sharing the screen and storylines with Nicholas Bishop, Jeri Ryan, John Carroll Lynch, Sonja Sohn, Geoffrey Arend, and Windell Middlebrooks. »
