The annual list, compiled by Forbes magazine, tracks earnings from June 2015 to June 2016 and adds in each actor’s endorsements along with their per-episode salaries. That explains why Vergara leads all TV actors, male or female, with a whopping $43 million, thanks to lucrative ad campaigns (like Head & Shoulders shampoo) and licensing deals. Leslie Jones wielded her best weapon at the Emmys

19 September 2016 3:25 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Tatiana Maslany and Rami Malek had pretty great experiences at the Emmy Awards last night, as did the kids from Netflix's Stranger Things, but it was Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones who might have won the night by joking about her hack and just having the time of her life. Dressed in Christian Siriano once again (Remember the Ghostbusters red carpet debacle?), Jones wasn't nominated but did have a part to play in the show. Chris O’Dowd and Ray Romano to star in Get Shorty TV series

24 August 2016 10:45 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Deadline is reporting that Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) and Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond) are in final talks with Epix about joining its upcoming Get Shorty TV adaptation.

The 10-episode hourlong is described as a “reimagining” of Elmore Leonard’s 1990 novel, which was brought to the big screen in 1995, with Barry Sonnenfeld directing a cast that included John Travolta, Danny DeVito, Gene Hackman and Rene Russo.

The series “centers on Miles Daly (O’Dowd), who works as muscle for a murderous crime ring in Nevada. For the sake of his daughter, he attempts to change professions and become a movie producer, laundering money through a Hollywood film. But instead of leaving the criminal world behind, he accidentally brings it with him to Los Angeles. Romano would play Rick, a washed up producer of low quality films who becomes Miles’ partner and guide through the maze of Hollywood.”

10-Episode Get Shorty TV Series In The Works For Epix

24 August 2016 1:15 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

It certainly seems to be a thing nowadays to take older properties and turn into hour-long TV shows. It's happening with Shooter, Rush Hour, The Departed, and a handful of other properties.

The trend seems to be continuing, as actors Chris O'Dowd and Ray Romano are in the process of signing on to lead the 10-episode series Get Shorty, based on the famous Elmore Leonard book of the same name.

While the book is indeed quite famous, chances are that if you recognize the title, it's from the 1995 film, which stars John Travolta, Danny DeVito, Gene Hackman, and Rene Russo. Heck, the movie did well enough that studios thought it was worth it to produce the sequel Be Cool, which -- as a sidenote -- was one of Dwayne Johnson's earlier roles. But I digress.

This new series is to be written by Davey Holmes, who has served as »

Chris O’Dowd Will Star In The Get Shorty TV Show

23 August 2016 8:10 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Not too long ago, we caught wind of a Get Shorty TV show being developed over at Epix. An adaptation of both Elmore Leonard’s novel and Barry Sonnenfeld’s great 1995 film, the dark comedy is set to take things in a bit of a different direction, as it won’t feature Ernest “Chili” Palmer. Instead, it’s focused on Miles Daly, a former Nevada mobster who will be played by Chris O’Dowd.

That’s according to Deadline, who report that the actor is about to ink a deal for the role alongside Ray Romano, who’s eyeing the part of a “burnt out producer of trashy films,” – the character that Gene Hackman played in the movie.

As we mentioned above, the show won’t follow the source material beat for beat, as it will instead centre around Miles, who gets into movie producing in hopes of giving his daughter a better life. »
